Ross is far from Justin Miller bro.Much more heady and smart player.

"Right now, he brings instant value as a returner and nickel back, but he will need a few years to see if he ever develops into a quality cover defender"

not that I take anything they say as gospel but

He may be more heady and smarter player but for next year he will not replace miller/leon as return man and will not replace miller/coleman as nickel

they might pick him but I think it would be a waste for next year anyhow. Maybe another CB who is more man coverage prospect

what about the other players? You only like first rounders?

We won't be taking Alama-Francis at 57; we have Coleman and Michael Haynes.

That's not to say that we're set at DE...but our most glaring need on defense is pass-rushing OLB to go opposite Bryan Thomas. I guarantee that we address that at either 25 (Anthony Spencer, Jarvis Moss) or 57 (LaMarr Woodley, Tim Crowder).

Even though I'm not a huge Ross fan, replace Alama-Francis with an OLB and I would be pretty happy with that draft.

BAP over need for the draft.

Pretty good from the 2nd round and on. Not a fan of Ross either, I'd prefer a better cover corner. He'd be an OK pick, but only if Spencer, Moss, Revis, Houston were off the board. Replace Ross with Spencer and that's a great draft.

Starting to think Spencer the better pick as well although not the highest need but would probably get a lot of reps in D and ST.

Thinking now this too high a pick for Blalock

aaron ross plays scared. he is good against press coverage but he lacks confidence in his ability which is not good for a DB. a DB has to play confident almost ****y.

Interesting. Everything I ever read about him says he is good in man but bad in zone. NFL.com specifically states he's better at trail than press, but whatever... Basically, he is raw and needs technique. He'd be good for us for his athleticism and punt returning, but I can't see burning #25 for that. Trouble is he had academic problems and is supposedly not the quickest study. Also a liability in zone. Doesn't seem like the kind of guy you want on a team that likes to mix up coverages and places a premium on intellect.

when you watch tape on him. whenever he is in press coverage he is good at bieng physical on the line. but in space he lacks the confidence to cover fast recievers. he doesn't have confidence and hesitates in space.

Where do you watch this "tape?" I saw him in a few games and he looked fine to me. The TV cameras certainly weren't on him enough to determine his confidence level. I don't see him as a good fit for us because he seems like another Justin Miller. Great athlete, bit of a project in coverage and immediate impact as return man. Better fit for a team that needs a return man.

i geuss. but scouts love him for his abilities in press coverage. some CB like to press because they can use their speed instead of there instincts. he is not a natural CB

why did that scout not put his name to the analysis. hmmm?

when ever i watched his tape, it seemed to me like he always hesitated in trail technique. he feels more comfortable in press coverage because he can feel the WR and mimick his moves. if i was a gm. i would not take a chance on him in the first round, and come draft day you will see that he will fall out of the fist round.

"That scout" didn't put his name to the analysis because it was probably quotes from about 20 scouts. If anybody were going to sign it, it would have been Gil Brandt. I haven't seen enough of the guy to make enough of a determination one way or the other, but I'd still like to know what tape you're watching. Was he at one of the all-star games? Did you tape games during the season? How big is your sample size?

of course i didnt cover him as much as other people might have. he is is a good CB. he just doesn't have that "IT" factor. and even dieon sanders said that he plays scared.

I would rather go with Blalock in Round 1 and address CB with one of the second rounders or in the third round, and get Woodley with one of those second rounders (don't think Spencer will drop) and possibly someone like Francis.

first there are no guards in this years draft that have the first round grade and second he is not even the best gaurd in the draft. ben grubbs is rated higher than him. and if we are going offensive line the best interior lineman in the draft is ryan khalil who is versatile enough to play both center and guard. there will be no elite CB left with our second pick. i like woodley but have my reservations about him
