Let's play pick the Jets front 7!

The Jets have done a lot of work in the open market picking up guys to solidify that front seven and will be going into camp with a LOT of competition. So now, mix and match all the DL and LBs on the Jets to pick what you see as a potential depth chart for the 2007 season. Also, list who you believe may get cut and why. Here are your potential candidates:

DL

Adams, Darrell - DE

Bowens, David - DE

Coleman, Kenyon - DE

Ellis, Shaun - DE

Hamilton, Bobby - DE

Fitch, Zarnell - DT

Haynes, Michael - DE

Marshall, Keyonta - DT

McChesney, Matt - DT

Moore, Rashad - DT

Mosley, CJ - DT

Pouha, Sione - DT

Robertson, Dewayne - DT

Thomas, Bryan - DE/LB

Von Oelhoffen, Kimo - DT/DE

Wadsworth, Andre - DE

LB

Barton, Eric

Chatham, Matt

Hobson, Victor

Kassell, Brad

Schlegel, Anthony

Spencer, Cody

Thomas, Bryan

Vilma, Jonathan

DE- 1. Ellis -- 2. Bowens -- 3. Hamilton

DT- 1. Robertson -- 2. Kimo -- 3. Pouha

DE- 1. Coleman -- 2. Bowens -- 3. Haynes

OLB - 1. Thomas -- 2. Wadsworth

ILB - 1. Vilma -- 2. Chatham

ILB - 1. Barton -- 2. Kassell

OLB - 1. Hobson -- 2. Schlegel

DE -- 1 Ellis 2. Kimo etc.

NT -- 1. DRob. 2. Pouha

DE -- 1. Coleman, Kimo etc.

OLB/DE -- 1. Thomas 2. Bowens 3. Chatham

ILB -- 1. Vilma 2. Kassell/ Schlegel

ILB -- 1. Kassell/ Schlegel (split time)

OLB -- 1. Hobson 2. Bowens

The backups at DE could include any number of people so I just listed them as Kimo, etc. I'd like for Haynes to be the guy who steps up.

I see Bowens as a situational rush OLB who subs in for Hobson and less frequently Thomas. I dont think he's strong enough against the run to play DE in the 3-4 or full time at one of the OLB spots.

Though many here disagree I still dont think Barton will be with the team when they break camp. I could be wrong, in which case he's in the mix at ILB obviously.

If as I think will happen, Barton goes, I think the coaches will give Schlegel a shot at the ILB spot next to Vilma to see if their 3rd round pick can play. I think at the begining of the season he and Kassell or he and Barton will split time.

To me one of the LBs has to go and Barton makes the most sense financially. To me Chatham should be the odd man out. I think Bowens was brought in to upgrade the roll they tried Chatham in last season.

As it stands right now the team has 9 LBs on the Roster:

Vilma

Barton

Thomas

Hobson

Chatham

Kassell

Schlegel

Bowens

Spencer

More will be invited to camp, but I dont see the Jets carrying 9 very deep into the season.

By the same token, I really dont expect Wadsworth to make the team. The guy is a super longshot project. If he makes the roster it will be miraculous.
