Jet Moses
How crazy is that? The guy that drowned him and his people supposedly stole a ton of guitars and other instruments. They also stole some hendrix recordings. Not only hendrix but there were probably stones recordings and plenty of other music that was taken that day. that manager (with the glasses) was a piece of **** too. Jones undoubtably was surrounded by unsavory characters. But who's fault is that? I have a hard time seeing Jones as a victim. He made his bed. The Troll
Stones >> Beatles It's true. C'mon Jagger and Richards totally own Lennon and McCartney. Agree 100%. The Stones are the greatest band to ever walk the Earth. Just because the Beatles set foot in America first does not make their music better. Jet Moses
I see the music as a victim. I don't feel that deprived, to be quite candid. ...Let it bleed Sticky Fingers Exile on Main Street Goats Head Soup...

L.S. Dylan
I really hate to shatter your illusions, but there it is. Shatter what? I still stand firmly that the brian jones was a great musician and a lot of great recordings were probably lost the day he died. I don't know what illusions you are talking about.. you mean your opinion being better than mine?

Based on what? Where is this body of work that has you holding onto an illusion that this guy had a masterpeice just waiting to be sprung on the world of contemporary pop music, if only he didn't drown in his own swimming pool, f'd up on narcotics? Please, it was all down hill after the Stones dumped him. If he would have lived, he would have been another Syd Barrett. And I'm being unfair to Syd Barrett, because at least Syd did write masterpeices before he lost it.

He was a great slide guitarist, sitarist, pianist, and added a lot of percussion and harmonica that you hear on stones tracks. When he knocked that first girl up he went to India to run away. he ran into a sitar, and influenced the beatles in that way.

What did he do with his talent? In my eyes, that just makes it worse. Here's a guy blessed by the muse, and he just pissed it away. As for him influencing Harrison to play the sitar, I don't know about that, maybe thats true, but it really isn't neither here nor there. I'm not attributing George Harrison's greatness to Brian Jones.
#27TheDominator
a musician friend told me about meeting Keith and Ronnie Wood backstage and they way he described it was by holding his nose-he said they stank When I met them they were so pickled they didn't smell of anything but Dewar's. SoFlaJets
Keith did NOT snort his dad's ashes from a post on the band's website-he now says he put the ashes at the base of a tree he was planting

So he played guitar, SLIDE guitar, sitar, piano, xylophone and a mean blues harp-so far that I've seen...the kid had talent JM-you can't deny that of his legacy

Manager Andrew Oldham didn't want him appearing in public with the band because he "didn't fit the image".
SoFlaJets
yea JM I knew Ian Stewart played piano with them early on but in this clip Brian was on piano also on Between the Buttons here's what he's credited for playing..... Brian Jones continues his experiments in exotic instruments on this album, playing electric and acoustic guitars, harmonica, recorder, piano, trumpet, trombone, and banjo-ukulele.
