124
I'm a Journalism major and currently attending a community college but I'm in search of transferring NOW as most of my credits would be able to transfer to most colleges. Now, my question is, what are the better schools for Journalism that you know of / have heard about. I know all about Syracuse and their Communications program and thats all well and good but I don't think its one of the best when it comes to Journalism. Rutgers & Rider seem to be the best in New Jersey, any others out there? Don't care where in the nation it is.

Cotch-Rocket
I'm sort of in the same boat as you, 124. I'm a junior in high school looking for a journalism and/or communications school. I want to be in sports radio, or write sports for a newspaper, etc. That sort of thing. I just haven't done any visits yet to Rutgers or anything, just the University of Tampa. They're not focused primarily on communications and journalism, but they have a good program.
Mavrik
University of Florida from what I hear has a good journalism program within their department of Communications. FSU doesn't have one though, runs a co-op program through FAMU. Maybe Stanford if you've got the grades.
The Gun Of Bavaria
You don't have to have a degree to be a member of the Drive-By Media. Just get a job with the NY Times, you can write whatever you want.

Garb
Who told you Syracuse does not have a great Journalism program? I know a girl that got her undergrad and grad at Syracuse who now has a kick arse job with the UN in NYC, married a venture capitalist, bought one of those foofie dogs she likes to dress-up, and is generally living la vida loca. Check out Emerson College in Boston. If you decide on the more general communications major - check out Boston University. If it was good enough for Shock Jock, Howard Stern, I'm thinking it's good enough for you.

NorthCoastJetsFan
Syracuse's Newhouse school has an excellent program in communications, for both print and electronic media. You might also look at Northwestern University in Chicago. One of the best schools in the country, unfortunately with a price tag to match. 124
Rutgers & Rider apparently are the 2 best in New Jersey, so I'll be looking into those two as well as Ramapo, Montclair State and William Paterson. Michigan State, Western Michigan, Missouri & Ohio are also on my radar for schools to look at.
