I am smelling a trade by Jets in draft

If it's in the middle of the first round then I say we would be targeting Carriker or maybe Gains if he falls. Or maybe even Quinn. I could see Quinn falling if the Phins get Green or Culpepper has a heart beat. If we go way up then I would think that Calvin is the man.

I can see the Jets moving up if they want one of the top four CBs (Hall, Houston, Ross, Revis) and three are gone before the Pats pick. Same thinking goes for OLB/DE types - Spencer or Moss?

Cant explain it, but I am getting a vibe that we will move up in draft.

Assuming we do, what do you think Tangini has up sleeve?

i see the jets moving down in the draft. hopefully there is a team that wants to move back into rd 1 for a player that falls to 25 and the jets can add picks later in the draft or next year.

Agreed, if they do, the picks we earn might be for next year's draft, since that was the mold the patsies followed. I don't really see us moving up though.

I don't see them moving up in the first round.

Last year they were a lot closer to the top and didn't make a move with a lot better

players at the top than this year.

They could play some games with the second round picks but even that is doubtful.

If not a CB at 25 then BAP.

They trade down and get out of the first round and add some picks, hopefully enough to get blaylock in the second if he's there.

They could also move one of the 2nd rounders that are only a few picks apart, I saw someone write about the cb Gay for a 2nd rounder, that might not be bad.

I really like where we are, if we do not select Blalock then i'll like to go with the CB out of Pitt.

From what I've seen from the threads and read on ESPN Insider about Blalock, he's a nice little pick-up for the jets....even if he sits and plays a limited roll in his first year and eventually takes the OG when kendell retires. Here's what the jets should consider.

With the 25th pick selecting Darrelle Revis or Aaron Ross, ideally though taking Revis because he has more upside.

With the two second round picks (59 pick = 310 pts) and (63 pick = 276 pts) it gives the jets enough ammunition if they want to make a move on Blalock in the second round to trade as far up as the 33rd pick, to provide a 6,3' 331 lb frame on a young o-line who was given a grade of 88 on ESPN. Note: Nick Mangold was given a grade of a 90 before last year's draft and see what potential he has.

the only problem with the jets moving up is that they only have six picks.forget it. it 's not going to happen

I would LOVE to see the Jets package a trade that would make them able to draft Chris Houston from Arkansas (CB).

I have a weird feeling he might slip alittle bit, maybe not till 25 but its not completely unrealistic.

I definitely see the Jets acquiring another draft pick, prob a 4th rder.

btw every time I see people use that smiley, it looks like somebodys blowing a kiss or something instead of drinking a beer.

I would LOVE to see the Jets package a trade that would make them able to draft Chris Houston from Arkansas (CB).

Overall: Houston arrived at Arkansas in 2003 and was redshirted. In 2004, he played in eight of 11 games (four starts), missed two games due to an ankle injury, and recorded 21 total tackles including 2.5 for loss, one pass defended, and scored a touchdown on a blocked punt. Houston saw action in all 11 games in 2005 (started the final nine filling in for an injured starter) amassing 20 total tackles, one tackle for loss, eight passes defended, and one forced fumble. In 2006, he started all 14 contests finishing the year with 45 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions for 129 yards (one touchdown), 13 pass-breakups, and two forced fumbles gaining All-SEC recognition.

Houston is a fast-rising prospect that bolted after his outstanding junior season. While it was his first as a fulltime starter, Houston did play in 33 games with 27 starts during his three-year career at Arkansas. He has room to improve in terms of his technique in coverage and as an open-field tackler. However, he possesses a very good combination of size, speed, strength and athletic ability. He is an instinctive and tough cover corner that consistently held his own versus top-flight wide receivers in 2006 (USC's Dwayne Jarrett, Tennessee's Robert Meachem and LSU's Dwayne Bowe). Houston projects as a late first-day pick in a weak 2007 cornerback class.

Grade - 83

---Compliments of ESPN Insider-------

Nice little find which is a player that could be added in the 3rd rd, although I really like the potential of hitting either of the big-named guys I said before with Blalock in the second. We'd hit a homerun in the draft for the 2nd year in a row of the Tan-gini era

  • 3 weeks later...

We did have 10 picks last year 8 of which contributed to the team, if these two guys step up and contribute that is ten players in two years that contribute to the team. If you're unhappy with that I don't know what to tell you. I agree that it would have been nice to save a 3rd or 4th to pick up an o-linemen but we got two great players and ten players in 2 drafts.

Yeah, that's all well and good. Great job drafting by Tangini in 2006.

If they'd done the same thing this year as last, maybe we would have 16 contributors instead of 10.

Or maybe we only have 8 and an overrated tight end. and we only started with 7 picks so if we drafted perfectly it would have been 15, if you assume we will draft perfectly we'll have 12 contributors.
