Why is nobody talking about Ben Grubbs?

With all the love for Justin Blalock on this board why is nobody talking about Ben Grubbs the guard from Auburn. Some sites have him listed higher then Blalock such as scouts.com. If he was available with at 25 but Blalock was taken would anybody here take him?

Marcus McNeill probably should have won rookie of the year last year and I think because of that it has helped Grubbs' stock soar since they used to play together on the same left side at Auburn. I like both Grubbs and Tim Duckworth but Grubbs is a 2nd or 3rd round pick and we could probably get Duckworth as a second day pick which would certainly be nice.

In terms of OG prospects he is 5th on my list behind B-lock, Beekman, Ramirez, and Marshal Yanda.

None of those guys deserve to be first rounders on that list besides Blalock.

Many pre draft lists have Grubbs listed ahead of Blalock on their OG lists. Mayocks predraft rankings right here on JN is one of these in fact.

I have not mentioned it here but I have been a big proponent of Grubbs who is arguably the top rated guard in the draft. Grubbs has good size and is probably one of the most complete, technically sound guards coming out this year, and he's from Auburn, a school with an extensive history of producing quality O-Lineman.

Alot of respectable draft sites including Scouts Inc and Mel Kiper/ESPN have Grubbs rated at #24 overall and show Blalock as a 2nd round talent.

Most People I've talked to seem to think Blalock as more of a mauler and would be better suited to improve our running game where as they think Grubbs is a better pass-blocker and more of a pure Guard, who can, at times, get over-powered at the point of attack.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with any of this but that seems to be the popular consensus from most I've talked to.

However, most of the the scouting reports that I have read, give Grubbs alot of praise to the contrary.

Some even claiming he's the best guard to come out since Alan Faneca in 97-98.

I would be happy with Grubbs or Blalock.

The reason why Grubbs is not mentioned here is because he will be selected in a part of the draft where we no longer have any picks. Unless we trade out of the first round, we won't be picking Grubbs.

I think its more that Grubbs hasn't received alot of publicity than it is the reason you mentioned above.

Grubbs is a very unheralded, but proven commodity.

He has snuck into the late 1st round in alot of mock drafts, despite very little fanfare or publicity and would be a good value in the late 1st or early 2nd round.

Again, despite what many here think, alot of draft sites have Grubbs as the top Guard in the draft.
