I dont get it..This is a bigtime talent....How do they not trade this guy and get something for him??I know he gets paid but they could have got something in return from some team...Maybe that would be contingent on him re-working his deal but damn why let him go for nothing at this point?

Boulware is nuts, he's an awesome player and whoever picks him up is getting one of the Top 10 OLB in the NFL.

This had to be not only a salary cap move but also a move to give Adalius Thomas the #1 spot. Cody also being drafted didn't help Boulware's future.

But here's the bigger mystery:

Where do you guys see him ending up?

I say...Houston or Oakland.

This is a guy who can make a huge impact on a defense if he's healthy.

He's had his time to heel, and if he is 100% healthy, Bradway should pickup the phone, call his agent and offer him a 3 year deal loaded with incentives.

Hobson is nonexistant out there, and Mark Brown is no better. Don't give me that "It's not Hobson's job to make plays, he's does his job well, blah blah blah"

The guy can't cover a good tight end if his life depended on it! Why do you think McGraw is always covering tight ends? Because Hobson cannot thats why.

Adding a healthy Peter Boulware would SIGNIFICANTLY improve our defense like you would not believe.

Teams have to account for a Peter Boulware, and with John Abraham, Drob, Ellis and Vilma, it's hard enough for opposing O-Coordinators to scheme against us with success. Now add 1 of the best pass rushing linebackers and we'd have 1 of the sickest defenses in the NFL.

At 6'4 255lbs, he has GREAT STRENGTH

When you think Peter Boulware, think of willie mcginest......except BETTER :mrgreen:

Sign me up on the Peter Boulware bandwagon!!! 8)

Boulware would be a great signing, but you know what, Hobson isn't just some pushover, he was having a good season last year until he was hurt for a couple of weeks and Mark Brown showed some flash. Hobson is going to continue to start and improve at SSLB this season, just you see.

However, if we had the $ to get Boulware I would like us to sign him but we have bigger needs, CB, and Ty Law should be our #1 priority.

Good points 124

But personally, I'd rather sign Peter Boulware than Ty Law.......if both are 100% healthy

WHY? :shock:

I'd rather start Justin Miller at cornerback and Boulware at SSLB...............

than Ty Law at cornerback and Victor Hobson at SSLB.

Not to mention, Boulware is younger and if healthy, would have a bigger impact on our defense than Ty Law, IMHO. :wink:

IF HEALTHY ... It's more likely that Peter Boulware puts us in the SB than Ty Law

1. Because that makes our front-seven obscene ... and "obscene" is really the word for it

2. I have always believed that a dominant front-seven is the most likely road to the SB ... that you build your defense from the front back, and not the other way around ... and Boulware would give us a four time All-Pro, 30 Years old {which is not old}, and one of the most ferocious pass-rushing OLB's in the league {to team with Vilma and Barton}

3. I believe a dominant front-seven, one that can really get after the QB, gives us the luxury of starting Justin Miller right out of the box ... minimizing the need for a Ty Law ... and it substantially increases Miller's chances at excelling very quickly

DE John Abraham

DT Pouha/Legree

DT DeWayne Robertson

DE Shaun Ellis

==

OLB Peter Boulware {4 Time All-Pro with 67 Career Sacks}

MLB Jon Vilma

OLB Eric Barton

==

CB David Barrett

S Jon McGraw

S Erik Coleman

CB Justin Miller

WHERE DO I SIGN for the defense? :shock:

GJ&H it all just came to me in an epiphany... ur right. Adding boulware would do more than adding law. Our secondary wasnt thattttttt crappy last year and if mcgraw can come back healthy and miller, strait, or mickens can replace donnie (and more than likely improve the position) boulware would make our front seven insane. In a pash rushing role, the amount of pressure we could get on the QB would make our secondary look so much better. If our offense doesnt suck as badly as last year, we'd be a better team.

I fear the Donnie Henderson doesn't have the same respect for Hobson.

Mark Brown showed me very little when he played. Yet a healthy Hobson sat on the bench behind him.

That is frightening.

The potential of Boulaware and Abe coming from the outside and collapsing the pocket is very tempting- any time you can upgrade your defense I would always say try to work something out.

Browns have interest in Boulware

Thursday, May 12, 2005

Mary Kay Cabot

Plain Dealer Reporter

The Browns are interested in acquiring four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Peter Boulware, an NFL source said Wednesday night.

But first, they must determine if Boulware is healthy and how much he wants to be paid, the source said. The Browns made some initial inquiries Wednesday night and will check into Boulware again today. If healthy, Boulware could be the pass-rush specialist the Browns sorely need.

The Ravens Wednesday released Boulware, who missed all of last season with injuries and hasn't played since a game in Cleveland at the end of 2003.

Browns General Manager Phil Savage was available during a news conference regarding Kellen Winslow Jr. Wednesday afternoon, but could not be reached after Boulware was released.

Savage was director of college scouting when the Ravens made Boulware the fourth overall pick of the 1997 draft. Savage counts Boulware among his many draft successes when he was with the Ravens and the two won a Super Bowl together in 2000.

Boulware told the Baltimore Sun he would be talking to the Bengals, who are coached by his former defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis. Boulware said he didn't know yet which other teams would be interested. Boulware's agent, Roosevelt Barnes, did not return a phone message.

This would be a huge pick up...I think Hobson is a solid player but losing his job to Brown shows that he's far from a lock to start. Upgrade from Brown/Hobson to Boulware would be unreal, it all comes down to the dollars though. Not many teams have a ton of cap room right now so it'll be interesting to see what kind of offers he gets.
