DefenseWinsChampionships
I just dont know how any real Jets fan who has actually followed this team over the past couple of years can actually say this team has no shot at going to the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row out of the AFC... I just dont know whats the point of even being a fan if you cant stop and realize that we have something good going on with the new coaching staff starting with Eric and ending in Mangini. Some fans say we made the playoffs last season because we had a "Easy road" to the playoffs even though each and every team we played last season marked the New York Jets as a W on sundays for the simple fact the year before we posted a 4-12 record and that was because we played 5 Quarterbacks starting with Chad, Fiedler went down in the same game early on in the season, we called Vinny T to get us a win vs the Bucs and thats about it, Brooks I think im Vick Bollinger had us in some games but Kliffs Kingsbury came to the rescue behind an Offensive line that had 4 out of 5 players playing a different position than the year before where we were actually 2 kicks away from the AFC Championship game to visit the Pats with HERM EDWARDS and I repeat HEM EDWARDS as the head coach not to mention that we were without E.Barton who was one of the best if not best Linebackers on our team in the 4-3... I can go on and on... But yea... Some fans can actually say the the odds are against us because we play tougher games... Last year we had some tough games in my eyes if you ask me. Last year we played The PAts TWICE who made the playoffs The Colts who won the superbowl The Bears who made it to the superbowl The Jaguars who are always tough on D The Packers on the road was a LOSS 100% at the start of the season in eyes of many The Dolphins on Monday night on Christmas is never a easy victory in the AFC East And did we really beat the Tittans in week one with a rookie head coach? That should have been 8 looses on our way to an 8-8 season. Next year Mangini and Martys boy will know what they have in this Jets team starting with players like Leon Washington who had a solid rookie year late in the season, J.Cotchery who made a splash in the NFL after getting unleashed from Herms dogs house for 2 plus seasons, L.Coles who is on his way to a H.O.F career, Brad Smith as a play-maker,L.Coles who showed the young coaching staff why he is still the #1 WR on this team plus players like C.Baker who showed they can make plays when called upon on the offensive side of the ball. Plus we went and stole T.Jones who rushed his team to the superbowl out of the NFC not to mention the 2-3 offensive players we may bring through the draft... And oh yea... Another year with Chad as the QB will help this Offense move the chains. Next year Mangini and Martys boy will be in the 2nd season with this Jets team The Jets D will be more familar in the 3-4 and look for J.Vilma to become more of a leader on that side of the ball with K.Rhodes roaming the secondary. Im not saying the Jets will make the playoffs but I just dont see how anyone can say we cant make the playoffs... I really think we may win the AFC East... Who said that money buys championships, look at my team the yankees... Who says that A.Thomas will fit in great with this Pats D, who says that the loss of C.DIllon wont hurt this team? Who says that the gain of a deep threat WR in Stallworth will improve the passing attack? Who says that the Pats LB"s are really getting any younger? Who even says that the secondary is going to be what it once was with the days of a younger R.Harrison, T.Law, even Adam is kicking in the dome... The Pats will be in for a season 2. Thai Jet
That's what so great about any sports season. Everybody starts at 0-0 and anything can happen. (unless your the Pirates of course )
Ghost
That's what so great about any sports season. Everybody starts at 0-0 and anything can happen. (unless your the Pirates of course ) Good post. I think we're going to make the wild card. If we did it last year, we'll do it this year. Eric Mangini knows what he's doing.

As usual we're in total agreement Ghost. Mangini's got us headin in the right direction for sure and we are making progress. I wouldn't be shocked if we were a little less sucessful with the harder schedule next year but I see us moving foward , filling holes and gelling as a team. 4HCrew
The Jets as an organization are making progress and headed in the right direction most would agree with that. I think the varied difference is that the Jets could be better this year but the record may not indicate that. Just like with some of Parcells teams the second year they some times took a step back and then came out on fire in the 3rd. Only time will tell but the dictating factor will be establish and stopping the run..things the Jets could not do consistently last year

I suspect the bandwagon will get a lot lighter and the B&Mers will be howling if the Jets get off to an 0-2 start.

4HCrew
Jetcane it will be very interesting around here if the Jets start an 0-2...I have a funny feeling the so called "homers" will be hard to find
SeniorFlaJet
Lets be realistic now. The chances that we go 0-2 are within the realm of possibility. Its how we look should that happen will be the determining factor if we are to recover from that.
4HCrew
Could not agree more Senior but we know how things go...and it goes both ways if the Jets win the first 2 then we will all be talking Super Bowl.. ahhh the joys of being an NFL fan
