Yankees' Torre on hot seat ... in April?

Now in his 12th season as manager of the New York Yankees, Joe Torre has been on the hot seat before. That's what happens when you work for George Steinbrenner -- no matter how many World Series rings you've won.

To be fair, he has not exactly won one in the last few years and the Yankees have spent billions on salary. Billions.

That Georgie has shown this much restraint is a credit to him.

I wanted them to fire him last year. He has had billions of dollars to work with over the last six years and nothing to show for it. But let's be honest, he is one of the worst in-game managers in baseball. He kills bullpen arms and he often puts the worst possible lineup out there (like hitting Mientkiewicz second), and makes stupid late game decisions--like pinch-hitting for Giambi in the 7th inning EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. He's great with handling the players and shading them from the media but he is absolutely terrible as an in-game manager.
