That damn show is so much better with him around. Best episode I've seen in a while.

Definitely the best episode so far. Wasn't expecting him to blow that guys head off though! Chris is one of the best characters overall... Paulie, friggin idiot!!

In reality Chris would have been whacked out as soon as the family knew he was shooting up. In that life style heroin addicts are viewed as eventual rats and he would have been rubbed out.

It was funny when Chris mentioned how Gravano is living it up in Phoenix in the WPP when Gravano is actually serving a 20 year prison sentence lol.

Don't take this the wrong way, but having grown up aqnd lived in Brooklyn and seen some people in the life up close and "professionally", these are generally not sober professional people. The idea that being a heroin or cocaine user would cause a mobster to get whacked wouldn't leave many mobsters alive. It's a myth. The reason they are attracted to the lifestyle is because the usual 9-5 routine and the accompnaying rules everyone else lives by get thrown out the window. If you're willing to murder people, run scams, sell drugs, etc., snorting or shooting up isn't that much worse a leap. They're often drug dealers, and anyone who's around narcotics long enough sample their product to some degree or other.

The one thing that I have seen somewhat suprisingly is bookmakers who are for the most part sober and often longterm elderly businessmen simply affiliated with mobsters to get people to pay up with the threat of force, but they rarely have to do so. The acid scene last night seemed a little out there, but I heard one old timer tell of seeing a "bad payer" getting a pinkie snipped with garden shears. But it is usually a pretty mundane business that's currently undergoing a resurgence due to the feds trying to shut down the offshore online bookies. Which is why, with casino, lotteries, OTB, etc. already being legal, not having legalized sports betting in this country is a joke. NY state doesn't want you to bet on a football game, but will sell you a lottery ticket and benefits from horse racing, which they're now trying to sell. Every newspaper has the line posted, and every newspaper has a picker. It's the one thing they could take away from organized crime tommorrow that would likely cost them a small fortune with the benefit of a huge tax windfall for the government.

Im not trying to say that everybody in the life style lives a clean life, but much of what they do is on the D-LOW. Nobody in that life worth their salt would want their boss knowing they are a hardcore heroin addict as Chris was. Maybe you wont get whacked out on the spot (i probably exagerrated that point) but it will put you on notice to the point where if you ever get pinched you probably dont even get a chance to show your loyalty. You're most likely going down. . Just saying that after the whole thing with Adriana, Chris probably goes down with her.

Although you cant take his word for much, Henry Hill even alluded to this point in one of his books.

The Sopranos supercedes Hollywood movies...it just is waaaaay better.

Its a great show, realistic in many regards but at the same time it can be just as unrealistic as your typical mob movie that is not based on true life events. You really think John Gotti or one of these other whacko bosses would have taken a beating from his brother in law in front of his wife and not do anything about it other than give him a contract to pop his cherry?
