Already been posted, but thanks SouthernJet for the reminder that Pedro is in fact injury prone.

.....and another example of an abysmal signing, and waaaaaaaaaaay overpaying for an injury prone (Cliff Floyd, Kris Benson) player

JonE, you just wish that Georgie had upped the payroll to about $300 million in order to bring in Carlos Beltran.

Pedro is baseball's version of PennyBoyWonder.

Stick to football, Tx.

And yes, Pedro is a lot like Chad Pennington. Injury prone and maybe they come up short in the big game from time to time.....but they also are more than willing to put everything on the line for their teams. I'd rather have a thousand Pedro's and Pennington's who are willing to "shoot up and play" rather than a Randy Moss, John Abraham, etc.

No, that would be Bernie Williams.

Carlos Beltran is a 5-tool center fielder. Overpaid? How can you define overpaid? What would you say is the value of arguably the best center fielder in the game?

Highest priced Free Agent last year.....BY FAR

Way overpayed for a guy that will hit .280, drive in 90, and hit less than 30 homers

...and you think Jason Giambi is overpayed [-X

Beltran does a lot more than does show up in the box score, something you have clearly missed. Unlike Jason Giambi, who relies purely on power, Beltran can do a lot of everything. The Mets have never had a center fielder with Beltran's speed, range, baserunning ability, arm, and bat control. Nor have a lot of teams.

Granted, Willie Mays did play a year for the Mets back in the 1970's, but he was a shadow of his former self then.

You must of missed the show he put on last post season.

Arod is the only Yankee in the same tier as Beltran talent wise.

If you are basing it on last postseason then yes you are correct. He was lights out.

If you are basing it on last season then AROD, Sheff, Matsui, Jeter might all be better hitters.

I am not knocking Beltran. The kid is a star. But he had a bad year and a great postseason. There is no reason that he shouldn't become a star though!
