Yeah, but can he coach?

He's stated numerous times that once he retires, he will leave football (at least the NFL) for good. He's a believer that there's life after football and at mid-30's, he believes he has a whole life ahead of him....

We'll see how long that all lasts until he starts to miss the sport thats dominated the first 30+ years of his life.

Life after football? The guy still won't retire.

Well what he's doing is the most lucrative. Retiring without announcing it. This way he still collects almost $1M/yr (for the second consecutive year & counting) and lives the same life he would as an officially retired player. Much better use of our cap space than keeping an active player like Kendall happy.

Maybe he's afraid they won't retire his number. If he never retires they can't give it to the next Carl Howard.

If it was just money out of Woody's pocket then that would be one thing but every cap dollar spent in one place is a cap dollar you do not have to spend somewhere else. In truth robbing Peter to pay Paul. This is an incredibly selfish move once again by Curtis who has and I repeat, been paid more than any other running back in the history of the NFL.

The Jets should say thanks for the memories and cut him today.
