INTERESTED THE SKINNY

Peter Boulware

Ravens Texans

Browns

Seahawks

Bengals May. 23 - According to ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli, no fewer than nine teams have confirmed interest in signing Boulware, released by the Ravens earlier this month. Boulware's agent puts the number of interested teams at 14 but said the veteran linebacker is in no hurry to decide.

"[H]e's not in a hurry to do a deal just for the sake of doing one," agent Roosevelt Barnes told Pasquarelli. "Sure, he wants to get settled somewhere, get into the program, get a comfort zone with his new team and teammates. But he has to be a good fit with a team and the team with which he signs has to be a good fit for him."

Boulware has visited only the Texans so far but could schedule visits with the Browns and Seahawks by later this week. Browns GM Phil Savage was Baltimore's director of college scouting when the Ravens drafted Boulware in 1997. Boulware's brother, Michael, plays for the Seahawks. Previous reports have indicated Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, who coached Boulware in Baltimore, might be interested in bringing the veteran to Cincinnati.

WHO INTERESTED THE SKINNY

Paul Edinger

Bears Titans

Vikings? May. 23 - The Bears released Edinger on Sunday, and reports out of Chicago immeditately named the Titans and Vikings as the most likely landing places for the fifth-leading scorer in Bears history. Chicago signed Doug Brien earlier this offseason, virtually assuring Edinger's eventual departure.

According to multiple reports, the Titans are expected to have immediate interest in signing Edinger, who was due to make $1.1 million in Chicago this season. Those reports also speculate that Minnesota, which signed Edinger to a five-year, $7 million offer sheet in 2003 that the Bears ultimately matched, could be interested again this time. However, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune suggests that might not be the case.

"When the Bears gave us permission to talk to other teams a couple of weeks ago, I put calls in to five to seven teams that I thought had some level of interest," Edinger's agent, Ken Harris, told the Star-Tribune on Sunday. "The Vikings never called back. I don't know where their interest is now."

WHO INTERESTED THE SKINNY

Travis Henry

Bills Titans? May. 23 - While the hand injury to RB Chris Brown prompted speculation the Titans might need to make a run at acquiring Henry, Pro Football Weekly cites sources who indicate the team is in no hurry to make a deal. In fact, the sources say Tennessee might not be willing to part with a first-day pick in next year's draft, said to be Buffalo's asking price.

The Titans offered the Bills a fifth-round pick for Henry during April's draft and have continued discussions recently. Henry, who skipped the Bills' recent minicamp and has vowed not to return or play for the Bills, has been seeking a trade since the end of the season. He has one year remaining on his contract.

WHO WHAT THE SKINNY

L.J. Shelton

Cardinals Texans? May. 23 - Released by the Cardinals last week, Shelton already has met with the Texans, according to the Houston Chronicle. The paper indicates the team is committed to shoring up its pass protection in order to make a run at a playoff berth in 2005, the former expansion team's fourth season.

Arizona gave up trying to trade Shelton and elected not to wait until June 1 to cut him, instead swallowing his $3.3 million cap hit this year.

"We just felt like at this point it made no sense to hold him any longer," Rod Graves, Cardinals vice president of football operations, said. "There are ramifications from a cap standpoint but we have (a lot of) cap room and we'd rather take that medicine now rather than push it to next year."
