Work ethic isn't the only thing that makes Welker a success

I tore apart your silly litte arguments. Instead of attcking actually try to reply to my points but since you have nothing keep on believing NE feared Wes and that he killed you despite never scoring a TD and averaging 4 rec for 39 yds on O, 19 yds on KRs and 7.7 yds on PRs.

You need to get over yourself.

You aren't really comparing welker to Branch, are you? Branch is far from great but he's alt better than the overrated, average Wes Welker.

The only comparison I was making was their height. But feel free to embellish to make yourself appear intelligent.

You aren't really putting welker in the same gorup w/ Troy Brown and Wayne Chrebet, are you?

You mean as far as all three of them being either not drafted or drafted in the late rounds and making a name for themselves? Yes I am.

WHAT NUMBERS????? The man has ONE receiving TD in 2 seasons, he average 10 yards per rec last year- that's good...for a RUNNING BACK! He did nothing against NE despite your false claims he killed you guys, his career PR average is anaverage 9.7, his career KR avg is a career below average 22.7. this was an asinine deal, he's nothing more than an average at best 3rd WR and an average at best KR/PR.

Again, I wasn't even talking about Welker. I was talking about freakin' Chrebet. So again, would you care to start over again?

I'll never forget what Chrebet said after Hackett was fired-something like "I'm sure someone is sad to see him go-not me"...Paul Hackett was sending him across the middle to block and be a decoy on 3rd downs AFTER having had a concussion..Wayne was getting clobbered by the Ray Lewis' of the league every time.Hackett's fault? I don't now but I DO know that idiot Herm was the guy SUPPOSEDLY in charge and we know he never protected his players-ask Curtis Martin

Reason #32 why Troy Brown is better than Wayne Chrebet:

I'll never forget what Chrebet said after Hackett was fired-something like "I'm sure someone is sad to see him go-not me"...

Nice mouth. Could anyone imagine the very classy Troy Brown saying anything negative about anyone? He'd just shut his mouth.

Reason #33 why Troy Brown is better than Wayne Chrbet:

Paul Hackett was sending him across the middle to block and be a decoy on 3rd downs

Oh, Poor Wayne. He wasn't the focus of the offense. He was a decoy! Oh no - a slot receiver having to go in the slot? Going accross the middle to block? Noooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you imagine Troy Brown refusing to do what was asked of him to help the team....regardless of anything? He played defense, he played slot, he played ST, he did whatever was asked of him. Team player, people. The ultimate team player.

well maybe if it was your head getting clocked you might feel differently...Troy Brown=average receiver and a lousy cornerback

I agree 100%

I blame it all on Herm. but junc will blame Hackett, I have no doubt about that.

And I'm sure you're going to say it's Hacket's fault he was removed from almost every 3rd down situation?

You can blow those stats out of your ass until the sun goes down. he was hurt because he was in a predictable offense under your hero, Herm..he got absolutely murdered a couple of times against the Raiders because they were constantly jumping the routes. and do you know why they were jumping those routes? because they knew what was coming.

When was he removed from almost every 3rd down situation? We must have been watching different teams. Wayne's last play ever was a 3rd down reception. Stop w/ the nonsense.

You need to get over yourself.

I need to get over myself? I posted the #s that proved that welker did nothing against NE while you made it sound like he was catching 8 balls for 150 yds w/ 2 Ts a game then ading in 15 yards per PR and 30 yds per KR w/ a D thrown in.

You never said anything about them not being drafted and by the way Brown was drafted.

My mistake on the last point. it's hard to tell who you were talking abut. This thread is about Welker and you were syaing how grat he was against NE which wasn't true so I thought you had more fantasies abuthow good Welker really was the last 2 years.

The bottom line is Welker did nothing against NE, he's an aerage 3rd WR and an averge return man. He was vastly overpaid w/ $10 mil guaranteed and just a 7th rd pick was too much to give up fo him then you throw in the 2nd rd pick and this deal looks like one of the worst we've seen in a long time.

It's not nonsense, go back and look at the last 2 games of 2001 against the Raiders. and the 2002 playoff game against the Raiders. he was taken out on 3rd down ALL THE TIME. and in that playoff game in 2002 he got beat up on short routes all day, which didn't lengthen his career.

You know Alk, that (Jr. going down) and Maroney unable to "really" play are the reasons. Sad but true. I swear the reason Thomas was so sought after was because of Indy TE burn.

BTW - who do you like better? Bug Eyes Caldwell or Jabbar Gaffney? I suspect one of them will stay on. News out of camp was that Washington looked like poop. I'm hoping for Gaffney. I just can't get myself to forgive Bug Eyes for his Indy gaffe.

So if those are the real reasons, why bother to stock up on problematic recievers such as Moss and Stallworth this offseason?

Nothing?

Hardly. Did Harrison fall victim of hyperbole? Probably.

Welker has had two good games against the Patriots. Last year he had 9 catches for 77 yards and the year before, he ripped them for a 47 yard gain in a 2 catch for 61 yards. For an undrafted free agent, that is not that bad.

The Patriots have spent two second round picks on receivers that have not accomplished what Welker has in his short career. A guy essentially walks on to a team and has 29 catches his rookie year and 67 his second year.

Maybe, the price is steep, but no more so then sinking 60 million into a QB off of one good season.

I agree he is a GREAT player if you get him cheap. I pity the team that reaches and locks millions up in him.

Why?

The NFL always pays based on potential. Chad had one great season and was compensated on his potential to be great many years.

First round draft picks are paid for their potential to be great. Anyone think Jamarcus Russell will be worth the 40-60 million his deal will probably be worth? No.

The Patriots paid, a decent price for a guy that walked on and caught 29 passes his first year and raised that to 67 his second. He led the team when clearly he was not the first, second or third option.

I feel better them sending that money to Welker then somenone they could have drafted not named Calvin Johnson.

The Jets are not paying Thomas Jones 20 million for the 1000 yard season he got with the Bears. They are paying him for the 1000 yard seasons they expect him to have with the Jets.

You blew that reply Maxie.

I blew that reply? Um, okay. The Pats signed an average player for millions of dollars. I said he is a great player if you get him cheap. Because you generally don't want to lock up millions in a 3rd or 4th WR. And that is what he is.

Obviously, there are enough Jest fans interested in the Pats third/slot receiver as this very thread attests to.

Generally speaking, Jets fans are:

1) obsessed with all things Patriots

2) lacking in real football knowledge

3) drunks

:P

As for 1), i am not obsessed with all things patriots, i am just mildly obsessed with knocking them off the top. As for 2) my knowledge isn't as extensive as a lot on this board as i was a basketball player in school, but I would say i know more then most casual fans, and 3) yeah, i didn't see ANY drunk people when I went to foxboro. Lol, my jets flag in that lot was a true beacon to the best and brightest of MassaCHOOCHetts, lol!

Stick to watching basketball if you think Kellen gives this Jets team the best chance at winning. He is a bust in a half.

Its bust and a half isn't it? BTW, did the jets play some preseason games that no one other than you are aware of? I'd really like to see the footage of this "bust".

Well, i never had any bananas at a tailgate so i know not what you are talking about. Interesting thing though, while at foxboro tailgating, 2 of the mangiest women i have ever seen came up to me. They were pimping themselves out for after the game. One of these broads actually came up to me and said "hey, you ever watch 2 girls do each other?" I snickered and told her she was talking to the wrong dude. Actually, they were giving out bottle opener keychains with their phone number on them. True story, swear. In all the years i have been going to jets home games, i never came across prosies in the lot like i did the one time i was up there.

Yeah Joe is a bad guy. The way he forces people to watch his porn just ain't right. People would never go for that stuff if he wasn't strong arming them. He must be stopped.

LOL, besides, i would love to know how pornographic that tailgate was up there, i came with 4 other guys and that was it, haha. The other female jets fans had no problem, and our mutual friends laughed at the fact that i could cause a grown older woman to be scared s##tless of me.

1) yah, riiighhht........some girls came up to a truck load of Jest fans and said that. Uh-huh...... And, I recall you posting a banana pic that was taken during one of your special tailgates Joe - so, I guess I'm calling bullsh*t. Oh, wait....just sayin'.

2) Max, oh Web Lord King - I was once forced to look at Porn when Joe posted his disgusting pics. He no longer does so, so I no longer look at Porn. Thankfully. Thank you, Web Lord.

...Let me go retreat back into my corner now.....I'm such a grown scardy cat, can you tell? :)
