Scott Schoenweis: Die.

For those who didn't see/follow tonight's Mets game, Schoenweis blew it in the 11th by allowing 2 runs to the Cardinals, the first on a HR to the first batter he faced.

Why is this scrub still in a Mets uniform? And how did we get duped into giving him the money we did? Of the few mistakes Minaya has made, this has been among the worst.

It should never have come down to the 11th inning. We need to start SCORING SOME RUNS. Look at last nite , 3 friggin hits in 11 innings. Thank God we won but that's not going to happen a hell of a lot when we are only scoring 1-3 runs per game. Gotta heat up those bats. ;)

He has just been a terrible free agent signing-Minaya has to take the heat with this one to go along with all the good signings he has made.

agree,, a GM cant be right 100% of the time,,omar deserves a pass IF he jettisons this turd

Franseca just made the point that every team in Baseball would have signed him last winter thus the contract.....it's either a injury or simply a bad year.

I am not a huge fan but he is better than this.

I just dont get what Minaya saw in schoenweis... the guy hasnt had a great career... not really a good one. he's only had 1 season w/ and ERA under 4.00 Darren Oliver sucks this year too, so good thing we didnt keep him.

If Dave Williams gets healthy soon (pitched in rehab game last week and again tonight in Triple A) he could be used out of the pen or as a spot starter. Not that he is that good, but with Peterson he may improve to be valuable out of the pen.

Feliciano is more reliable (1.61 era) and should be the last lefty used. before we get to Wags...

80, please, for the Love of God...Forget about Schoenweiss. The Mets are clearly the class of the NL. Milwaukee? San Diego? The freakin' Dodgers? Playa Please! Look at what they've done without Pedro even throwing a single pitch.

You know that Delgado will come around, you know that Beltran will tear it up in the 2nd half, you know that Wright and Reyes are only getting better every day as they have not even begun to show the world what they are capable of. Youre like a nanosecond away from a dynasty with those 2.

Minaya hasnt made many mistakes, and yes, Schoenweiss sucks right now...but youre going to need someone to pitch mop-up because the Mets will be on the business end of some lopsided victories this year.

YOU dont want to over-use Feliciano, who is filthy.

Need I remind you that you have John F'n Maine on your roster??? He's 4th in the NL in ERA at 2.87, 5th in wins with 8, and only 75 hits in 94 innings. His use and location of his off speed pitches is Beckettesque. The 2007 replay of the 1986 World Series is gonna be something very special to watch. Expect a totally different outcome though :)

Heh, we gotta be able to beat the Braves before we can be a "dynasty", but you are right that we don't have a whole lot of weak links. I don't share your confidence about Delgado, however. He's lost a lot of bat speed, and at 35 he may start to become a defensive liability too. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong.

But if there is a weak link, Schoenweis is it. The only reason he's still on the roster is that he's a high-paid lefty reliever. I just hope we don't have to see him much more this season.

In JBF world, making the playoffs one year in a row and losing to an inferior team gives you a dynasty...

Said inferior team embarrased the AL team that made the Yankees look like a AAA team.....just saying.

Save the "anything can happen in the play-offs" which has become the Yankee fans new mantra upon being nothing more than a 200plus million "warm up" for the real play off teams in the AL.

If you wanna fall back on the anything can happen in the play-offs than you need to apply it to ALL teams including the Mets. BTW big difference in taking the series you lose in right down to a 7th game, final at bat compared to what the Yanks displayed in the Detroit , Anaheim or Boston series the last 3 years.

This year when you are a observer and non participant in the play-offs you can give us ancient history lessons.

This isn't about the Yankees though you have to bring them up of course. It's about a poster saying that the Mets are a dynasty with no factual basis. You have to do a HELL of a lot more than the Mets have done to be considered a dynasty. Start with making the playoffs more than one year in a row.

He didn't say we were a dynasty...he alluded to the fact that Reyes and Wright have us heading in that direction.

No. Those guys are 2 good players but to say 2 good players makes a dynasty is completely moronic.

And once again you're missing the point. Reyes and Wright don't "make" a dynasty. But you can start to build one around 2 great players. Reyes and Wright themselves are not "great" yet, but they're the best young SS-3B tandem in all of baseball. So while they alone cannot create a dynasty, they are two players to build one around, just like the Yankees did with your precious Derek Jeter until Steinbrenner screwed the whole thing up.

Except they aren't the best young SS-3B combo in their own division. And most teams have a few good players they can build around. That in itself means nothing.

True, but the resources the Mets have make it more possibile for that to happen than other teams, like the Marlins, who I assume you are speaking of when you say the Mets do not have the best young SS-3B tandem in the NL East.

So any team with a few good players and resources is a dynasty waiting to happen?
