Why would a fan think that his team which ONLY IMPROVED this season would do so much worse. We didn't lose anybody, and got markedly better on offense with TJ and on defense with our draft picks.

Chads lack of any arm strength and poor decision making will keep us in the middle of the pack. I predict we will just miss the playoffs at 9-7

I will have my always much anticipated predictions submitted in a thread, maybe an article (cough, Max, cough) by the end of August at the absolute latest.

I don't censor much but if you predict 4 and 12 I am not putting it on the front page, lol.

The Jets in 2006 were a 6-10 football team. They went 10-6 on great coaching and an easy schedule. And extreme luck with no injuries.

7-9 or 8-8 in 2007 will be actually an improvement because of the hard schedule we have this season. There will also likely be more significant injuries, unfortunatelty. We lost nobody last year, odds are we lose somebody this year. If not losing someone(s) for the whole season, a large majority of it is likely. Also, how will the NFL adjust to Schotts offense after studying them in the offseason? Logic says our offense wont flat out fool the other teams as often as it did last year - and that was a HUGE part of our offense last season.

Either way this is a mediocre football team, even if every one stays healthy. Its a worser team than 7-9 if we have a few significant injuries that hit us (Jones, QBs, Drob etc etc). Thats why I said 5-11 is the floor. 7-9 is much more likely than 5-11 though.

i'm glad i book marked this page. 14 and 2 is a pretty lofty goal, espcially from someone who is not high on our O-line, D-line, or QB. i'm hoping it comes through though.

Last year I predicted 11-5.

Actually I think the DL will be fine. Not dominant, but it won't be the liability it was last year. At LB, BT will be a monster. Harris will be a good one. The committee we currently have opposite BT will be fine. My biggest concern in the front-seven is Vilma, who I think needs either a super-stud 3-4 line or a 4-3 line to be effective; absent that, he's JAG b/c of his size. Secondary will be excellent by mid-season at the latest.

OL is definitely a big concern. I think Ferguson will make huge strides this year. Just because someone is drafted that high doesn't mean he's going to play at that level as a rookie. Nick Mangolds and Marcus McNeill's are rare. His improved play will free up Baker. I don't think much of Kendall either, but he was instrumental in helping the rookies develop last year. Don't forget the awful BJ Askew isn't our FB anymore. It was a considerable handicap; he couldn't push a beach ball.

But most of all, I'm big on the coaching staff. As much as this was a new system for the players, it was a new job for our HC, OC, and DC.

...and I didn't say we would win 14 games with Chad at QB. ;)

We will beat Tennessee. They might have the first pick in the draft.

Other than that, I pretty much agree. I think we might beat Pittsburgh and split with the Phags, though.

Yeah, its all subjective. I could flip flop alot of the losses with wins and vica versa, but the ending result of the record wont change I think. We should beat tennessee, they stink. But we always lose at least 1 easy game a year.

Now Barton, I am not one of these posters here saying you are some young kid who talks out his @ss, but this is kinda lame. The fact of the matter is they did go 10-6, not 6-10, and their greach coaching staff is back. The excuse of an easy schedule is a copout, we were pretty much in every game last year that we lost aside from the Jags game, hell, we almost beat the SB winning colts! It is pretty hard to debate someone logically if they are going to resort to statements like they are a 6-10 team that lucked themselves into 10-6.

And we won more than a few games by the skin of our teeth, so it goes both ways.

Great coaching wasnt luck. I didnt say that.

But an easy easy schedule was luck and no significant injuries was a pot of gold luck.

We'll see what happens in 2007.

You are one of the most intelligent posters on the board. Your above post is the reason I don't make predictions.

That was just horrible! :P

lol

And this was a serious prediction you feel? Everyone will suck except 3 teams? The Jets will improve on a 10-win season by 4 games after adding nothing but Thomas Jones & Kenyon Coleman?

Man, I wouldn't seriously predict/expect the Patriots to win 14 games with Tom Brady in his prime.

I think the prior year I threw out a 15-win "prediction" after we went 3-13.

At least SoFlaJets got it at the time.
