The nerdy Boca Raton bizman is quietly going through a divorce. Henry, 57, recently filed in a Delray Beach court against wife No. 2, Peggy Sue, 45, whom he married in Hawaii 14 years ago. They have a tow-headed 10-year-old, Sara. And with the guy's worth estimated in the $800 million range, which includes the famed Major League Baseball franchise and a 164-foot yacht, this split will no doubt start drawing attention. Henry didn't return calls. Spokesmen for his Boca-based investment firm, John W. Henry & Co., and the Red Sox said not to expect Henry to address the topic. Even Joel Weissman, the jocular WPB attorney representing Henry, is keeping his lips zipped. And no word from the missus or her lawyer. Henry family friend Scott Woolley, a Boca TV production company owner, said he was shocked to hear about the May divorce filing. "They're both great people," Woolley said. "John's a quiet guy. Very private. I don't think he told many people." In the bare-bones petition, Henry, a former owner of the Florida Marlins, calls the marriage "irretrievably broken" and asks for equal parental responsibility. There's also the mention of a pre-nup. The news will send shudders throughout Red Sox Nation, already bellyaching online about financial difficulties in Henryland. In May, the commodities and futures trading firm lost a longtime client that pulled $600 million, leaving it with just $500 million to manage. Last year, John W. Henry still managed $2.5 billion. "None of this should affect the Sox's bottom line," said sports business analyst Maury Brown. "It's a big organization."

PFSIKH
I guess he popped the question to JBF and he accepted. I heard it was the Yankee thong and Jeter rubber mask that did the marriage in.
anskyruben
I heard it was the Yankee thong and Jeter rubber mask that did the marriage in. Probably right. She walked in on him and JBF parading around with their thongs backwards and chasing each other around the room. One with a Jeter mask and the other with Big PIPI. Imagine the horror ! Bugg
I don't know what it has to do with the story, but it means light blonde. I thought "tow-headed" meant rich, full, thick head of luxurious little kid hair.Kinda like this- or this-
Thor99
This is from wikipedia. A towhead also refers to a person with light blond hair. This is based on the hair's resemblance to tow which is coarse or broken flax prepared for spinning.

Thor99
LOL well I had no clue what else it might mean. Wouldn't it just be easier to say she's a blonde? Yes, it would. Writers like to show off their vocabulary.
MrsTaborJet
Yes, it would. Writers like to show off their vocabulary. Agreed. I was thinking, WTF does their daughter being blonde have to do with anything whatsoever??? Tow-heads are usually very very blonde, almost white hair.. .very fair. So, this John Henry guy... does he have black hair? Maybe he ain't the daddy and that's why they mention the tow-head. ha ha.
