What would all of you Chad haters do if he led this team to the SB this year?

Would you jump off a cliff knowing it was Chad?

Would you not acknowledge being a Jet fan?

I would LOVE to see the reaction here.

What you don't get is that this is the reason people "hate" Chad Pennington.

I have a better chance of having of logging off, walking into my room, and having a three-way with Eva Longoria and Bea Arthur while Tony Parker videotapes it than Chad Pennington does of leading this team to the Super Bowl.

I would be just as happy as any other Jets fan. I would be thrilled. The fact that I think Chad's skills at QB leave a lot to be desired makes me less of a Jets fan? or any different that the guy who loves every player on the team?

I think not.

Vegas has the Jets at 25/1 to win the Super Bowl. If you have a better chance of a three way with Eva Longoria and Bea Arthur you must be some dude. Just don't send me the tape unless Tony concentrates solely on Eva.

Don't worry, I'll be concentrating on Bea.

Nothing would make me happier than this. I do not call myself a "Chad-Hater", more of a "Clemens Supporter." I want the Jets to win, bottom line. I don't care who takes us there, but as of this moment I would rather Clemens came in. If Chad won the super bowl, i think that all of the real haters would just let it go and admit that they were wrong about Chad not being a super bowl caliber QB.

This is also called Lamont syndrome. Curtis lead the league in rushing but Lamont would have done it better.

Chad will win the Super Bowl but Kellen would have covered the spread! :P

:rl: Good one Max.......Hey ! Why the F am I laughing? Sadly, You're probably right. :1cry:

Listen to Mangini's press conference after the giant game.

No. The part where he said over and over again when presented with how the 1st team offense had a hard time the fact that one player doesn't make or break an offense.

He's right and I love Chad but the QB is a big % of that make or break part.

Hey Guys sent this Post Article to my friends a few weeks ago to get them pumped up for season...while the Jets have had a bad preseason game or two since we are all still very pumped up for opener against Pats...I remember before 04 season reading in interview that Pennington not only wanted to be first QB to win 5 superbowls but he also wanted to win 1st before Brady won 3rd (said second part half seriously) I am sure he would (as would we) settle for one at this point..enjoy

August 3, 2007 -- Chad Pennington sat back in a chair on the edge of the field immediately after yesterday's grueling morning training camp practice that ran nearly three hours. His face was lined with sweat streaming down from under his Jets ball cap from the suffocating heat in the mid-90s.

You could have excused him if he said how exhausted he was, yet Pennington somehow looked energized, even rejuvenated.

The Jets quarterback is a new man this summer, liberated from the shackles of that silly four-man quarterback competition of a year ago and firmly entrenched as the team's starter.

This is Pennington's team and it shows. He's the unquestioned leader, looked up to by virtually everyone on the team.

"He's got a little swagger to him right now," Eric Mangini said. "He's been jawing back and forth with the defensive guys pretty good. He's always been a pretty confident guy, and justifiably so because of the way he works and performs. But it's been good to see that interaction with him and the defense, the good-spirited competitiveness they have."

The two major shoulder injuries and subsequent surgeries are mere specks in Pennington's rearview mirror now. So, too, is his stressful summer of 2006, during which he had to prove to Mangini, offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, et al that he was their man.

As good as life is for Pennington, though, he's hungry for more than merely being the team's starter.

Pennington, who has a thirst to win a championship that he desperately wants to quench, will be the first to tell you his NFL career consists of unfinished business.

"It's certainly been a roller coaster," he told The Post. "There's been some really high emotions and there's been some really low times. Right now I'm just excited to have another opportunity. Going through what I've gone through, you look at each situation and every day and say, 'Man, this is an opportunity to get better.'

"I truly try to take advantage of each day and realize that football is not a career that you can plan the next 10 or 15 years ... you never know when the end is going to come. So, if you don't enjoy it and soak it all up and try to get better every day, you're going to regret it."

Pennington, barring any unforeseen injuries, is almost assured to be better than he was a year ago, when he had 16 interceptions to go along with 17 touchdowns, a number not indicative of his ball handling and ball security skills.

He'll be better because he's got another year in Schottenheimer's system and because he'll be handing the ball off to running back Thomas Jones, who automatically upgrades the offense.

"The difference this year is instead of learning what to do I'm learning how to do it better and really take control of the situation and take this offense to another level, take the next step," Pennington said.

He said starting all 16 games last season for the first time in his NFL career was "a relief" because he was not used to missing games in college.

"To be able to do that 17 games straight [including a playoff game], week in and week out and not having to worry about anything major," he said, "that was a nice feeling."

That feeling would get even nicer if Pennington is able to lead the Jets to their first Super Bowl since Joe Namath did it almost 40 years ago.

"By my experience with Joe Namath and how people still talk about him 30 some years later, it would be pretty unbelievable," Pennington said. "It would be a pretty amazing experience."

I don't think anyone here hates Chad. They just don't believe he is the answer.

If Chad delivers us to the promised land, I will have a BBQ. I will serve smoked crow and for dessert? Humble Pie.

college barton hates Chad... he would hate him for winning the superbowl...

Everyone else would be pleasantly surprised...
