Wagner has been shut down with what they are calling a "dead arm" Just basic tiredness that most pitchers get a some point in August or Sept. So why the hell would you have him pitch 2 innings, FOR THE 1ST TIME ALL YEAR??? I can see wanting him to pitch the 8th, facing Utley and Howard. Why bring him back for the 9th though? Willie has always preached the "I'm looking at things for the long haul, not just today" Well, that went out the window today when he pushed the panic button and had Wagner go 2 innings. And it blowing up in his face in the 9th now has this team reeling big time. Now they go into the house of horrors losing 5 in a row and the lead at 2.
