According to Dave Hutchinson of the Star-Ledger, the New York Jets are rumored to be interested in Denver runningback Mike Bell who was recently placed on the trade block by the Broncos. In the same report, Hutch also notes that the Jets could shopping tight end Sean Ryan throughout the league.

Currently, the Jets are carrying 5 tight ends on their roster. Chris Baker, Sean Ryan, Jason Pociask, Joe Kowalewski are all on the active roster. James Dearth is also listed as a tight end, but is only the long snapper.

Well first I will say this, Mike Bell is a talented RB and could definitely be 15-20 carries a game type guy. The important thing this makes one question though is , how healthy is Thomas Jones and is his injury more than what they've been letting on?

It would be very Tangini like to hide a serious injury so that other teams couldn't use that as leverage.

He could be 100% healthy for all we know. It's just crazy to carry one "real" RB in Washington if Jones goes down though. He's not the type of RB to carry a full load and I certainly don't think Mangini wants to have one of the FB's as a an option...how many teams carry just two RB's on their game day roster?

We need to trade for a guard or DE, why trade for a RB? We can go and sign a rb out of FA like an A.Pitmann or someone else... But as far as trades go, I would much rather see this team trade for a guard or DE than a RB in M.Bell.

DWC I actually agree with you. The Jets really don't have much ammunition they can use for trade bait, so why waste it on RB.

How are we not trying to trade McCareins? He finally scrubbed off that dog doo doo smell he had surrounding him and made himself a commodity and now we're going to hold on to him at a position where we are clearly the deepest.

I really think J.Mac can have a huge season this year, but at the same time... If we trade J.Mac we better hope B.Smith or Stuckey will be ready

I would hate to trade for a Denver back. They always have great run blocking so their running backs always look good to great. They then trade away for other positions knocking they can plug in someone with even decent skills and make him look great also.

Denver may trade away some nice RB's in Portis and others, but the bottom line is that your actually right TP, when Denver trades a RB, they ALWAYS come out on top, and they will always imrpove the team by doing so.

Yeah, I agree. We do need another rb, but de and guard are more priority right now. I was reading on nfl.com that the texans were shopping de babin to the seahawks for ss boulware. There are teams out there with parts we need. We just have to find them.

Well, Denver isn't going to be looking for any more Cornerback or Tight End help, they already have a surplus of both so who we would be willing to give up would be interesting. I know some of you don't want to see it happen but theres a man who wears #81 who might be intriguing to Denver.

Trading J.Mac to the Broncos would only hurt this Jets team... We will still need another Guard or DE and we just got weaker at the WR postion because we all know Brad Smith or Stuckey is not ready to step in and be a go to 3rd slot WR.

Plus add the fact that T.Jones and Leon are healthy as of right now, Bell would only sniff the field if Jones or Leon went down due to an injury... Im sorry, but trading JMac to a Denver team would only improve the Broncos and would hurt the Jets in my eyes.

I just have a good feeling that Thomas Jones will be ready to go come week 1... And if he does go down, we can always sign another RB... It's better than trading for one (With our O-Line situation as of right now)

Corey Dillon.

I would have rather seen Corey Dillon get some practice time rather than come out of the blue, but then again, maybe that work out for his older body. Like I've said before, I have no problem giving Corey Dillon the ball 10 times a game.

potw nom.

The key to a good running game is great blocking. Then you can put almost anyone back there... but with our mediocre line, it wont really matter who we have back there.

but, for $360,000 salary this year it wouldnt be a bad pickup for rb insurance.

Hmmm, something is up.

NYJ need OL and DL, not another RB unless Jones cant go. BTW, Jones was at practice but didnt participate in any contact drills.

You do know BB did almost the exact same thing wit Maroney this pre-season right? He had no contact and then POOF... they fed him the ball like crazy in his first action...
