Jets Mysteriously Quiet

On a day when all other teams were claiming players and formulating their practice squad, the New York Jets were strangely quiet. The team didn't announce any moves yesterday, a day after all teams made final roster cuts.

Could the team be so satisfied with its final roster that no other moves are necessary?

I can't believe that is the case, although the silence is deafening. The only other explanation is that the team is in talks about some trades or signings that haven't been completed yet. It still doesn't make a lot of sense that the practice squad hasn't even been named yet. I know Mangini and Tannenbaum like to keep things secretive, but this is ridiculous. Even the team's official website has not updated news information since Saturday.

Perhaps everyone just took the day off yesterday. The beat writers never posted on their blogs and the stories for today are just generic fluff pieces that give no information at all.

The only rumors floating around have the Jets talking to the agent for offensive guard Keydrick Vincent and cornerback Andre Dyson apparently on the trading block. The Vincent story has some merit, but I can't see Tannenbaum trading his best cover corner.

Dave Hutchinson did have an "unofficial" update about Manny Collins making the practice squad, along with running back Danny Ware and guard Robert Turner. He also wrote the Jets may be interested in running back Mike Bell of Denver. Again though, nothing official and everything is purely speculation at this point.

Unfortunately, we really don't know what is fact and what is fiction. There is no news to be had out of Jets camp at this point. A very frustrating situation for both fans and bloggers alike!

Two ex-Jets were claimed by other teams yesterday. Kimo von Awful was signed by the Eagles, while third-round bust Anthony Schlegel went to the Bengals.

UPDATE:

Jets finally announce official practice squad members; thanks for the update Randy Lang.

maybe they are quiet because they are working on the damage control if the offensive line situation is not remedied...or brain washing the players on what to say late Sunday afternoon... ok done being negative now :)

Is this what it was like reading my posts when Herm was here? It's a wonder people still use the word "snuggly" to describe me.
