124
Now, I thought this was interesting. They came right after Jeter hit a 2 run triple to extend the Yankees lead to 7-2, but A-Rod was also walking up to the plate. Now, yes, A-Rod hit the 2 run shot and got the standing ovation and curtain call, but who do you think the stadium was yelling MVP too? Now, I think it was A-Rod, but, can you be for certain? It was A-Rod. There is not an objective baseball fan that can tell me A-Rod isn't the AL MVP...hands down. From day one through today. Tons of BIG hits in big spots. He didn't deserve his last MVP IMO, this year it's rightfully his.

drago
Good question. If he is not a unanimous selection, something is wrong. not to interrupt this new york circle jerk, but aren't the yankees going to miss the playoffs? lmfao! you want an MVP to be on a losing team AGAIN!!!! What a joke, A-rod is less of an MVP than matt light of the patriots, at least light was on a winning team! you guys gotta set down the pipe, i know loser franchises like the rangers grab MVP's here and there, but christ, at some point the team actually needs to win some games for that player to be soooo valuable. A-rod is a pile, he is not a winner, hits like a sissy girl in the playoffs, and will never grab a ring. He is a joke.

He hates Jeter so much, he takes a thread that has nothing to do with him and turns it into a Jeter/Arod debate. Shocking. Guess what? Jeter has 4 WS rings and actually shows up in the playoffs. I dont care if mets fans like Arod more, Jeter actually wins.

Arod is the AL MVP and the Yankees are currently leading the wild card by 3 games. first off, it wouldn't be the first time i looked stupid... secondly...watch pay-rod's stats when it counts, i look forward to it every year. FFWIW, i love jeter, regardless of him being a yankee, he is definatly a big game player. As much as i root against a-rod, i do chear for Jeter. The thread starter was also trying to imply that Jeter was the one the fans were chanting for. How you feel I made it about the two players is lost on me. I don't hate Jeter either... just amused he is overhyped to the point that some Yank fans compare him to ARod....not in the same zip code.

The Yankees are a near lock to make the playoffs right now and A-Rod is having far and away the most dominant season of anybody in the AL, or in the whole MLB for that matter. The fact is the last 2 years in the playoffs the entire Yankee lineup has sucked, but A-Rod for some reason is seemingly the only one to get criticized for it. Cmon drago surely you're better than this drivel.

I guess i'd take the guy that will hit 400 plus during any given series.

It's the playoffs that bothers me so much, he makes all that money to win regular season games. I want to see numbers in the post season. it looks like we'll get our chance to see it too. I'll eat crow if he even hits 300 in however many series the yanks play in.

He actually has performed in the postseason previously, unfortunately just not in the last 2 seasons. http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/rodrial01.shtml In the 2004 DS against the Twins he hit .421 and his numbers were also very good in his postseason appearances with Seattle. uart
It was A-Rod. There is not an objective baseball fan that can tell me A-Rod isn't the AL MVP...hands down. From day one through today. Tons of BIG hits in big spots. He didn't deserve his last MVP IMO, this year it's rightfully his. He didn't? Who did? Ortiz, whose numbers were close, but not quite as good, and who didn't play defense at all? I hate that argument. Ortiz had a great year, but I'm sorry, ARod's year was better. THAT is why he got the MVP and Ortiz didn't. End of Story. ARod in 2005 .321 avg / 48 HR / 130 RBI / 21 SB / 421 OBP / .610 SLG Ortiz in 2005 .300 avg / 47 HR / 148 RBI / 1 SB / .397 OBP / .604 SLG Ortiz lead ARod in RBI, but that can have as much to do with who's on base ahead of you as anything else. ARod also had a .971 FPCT at 3B and 1.000 FPCT in three games as a SS, compare that to Ortiz who only played the field in 10 games that season. Anyone who thought that ARod didn't deserve the MVP needs to go back and look at those numbers again. Ortiz was good, but ARod was better.
