JiF
I would not go that far, but he should not leave Brady because he will disappear. He's been regarded as a top 5-10 WR in this league for the last 5 years. He's no where close. Probably 20+ WR's I'd take over him. Once he leaves Brady, he's goes back to being pedestrian. crashingjet
Patriots losing brings people together. Welcome brother. LOL Thank you. The world just feels... Right. There was a certain crispness to the air this morning. Except Harvin is a legit big time player instead of a product of cheating. I'm getting a migraine thinking about Harvin getting overthrown by an overpaid Mark Sanchez. He's been regarded as a top 5-10 WR in this league for the last 5 years. He's no where close. Probably 20+ WR's I'd take over him. Once he leaves Brady, he's goes back to being pedestrian. Hey, the 1 TD he had in Miami was more than just pedestrian. Over the last two years, his hands have been suspect, especially during clutch times, but he is a good-to-very good player. He's been regarded as a top 5-10 WR in this league for the last 5 years. You agree he is short, isn't a speed demon, and may or may not have the ability to catch well. So how is he a very good player, when he lacks all the attributes of a "very good" receiver? So how is he a very good player, when he lacks all the attributes of a "very good" receiver? 6'3"-6'5" receivers with elite speed do not grow on trees. As Brady showed coming out of the draft, he had none of the measurables, but has managed to become a HofF QB. NOw, Wes is not a HofFer, but he is good and cane be very-good to great somedays. You do not average 112 catches a year, while with New England and not be good. Welker was the only guy on the Pats offense who came to play yesterday. Llyodd played well. Hernandez played well. Even Ridley was effective until being knocked out.

Agreed that averaging 112 catches is quite a feat but he seems to stick a dagger into the Pats heart at critical times with those drops. Got to be frustrating for Cindy and the rest of the team. No one is talking about Brady. And no one said you had to be 6'5" and fast... both one of those is nice for a "very good" receiver. Welker puts up the numbers he does because of Brady. What about him makes him a very good receiver in your eyes?

They create space really well within 10 yards of the LOS. Most of Welkers plays are from YAC. The guy had 111 catches in the Cassel season. Welker puts up the numbers he does because of Brady. What about him makes him a very good receiver in your eyes? Nor, does it define what a good WR is. I agree with your point, to a degree, that Wes is a by product of being Brady's favorite target. Why I think he is good, despite the drops like last night, he made plays despite being crushed a few times. Compared to Hernandez last week, who probably has a ton more physical gifts, short armed a couple of plays last week after getting hit. He is the perfect slot guy. He catches it and his elusivity make him a perfect fit for Brady and the Patriots' offense. Like Brady, he is more intangible than tangible.
unbanmadmike1
I'd rather have Jeremy Kerley as a slot WR than Welker for the next 3 years.

Klecko73isGod
Why, you Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola. They're all the same guy. And Julian Edelman is on pace for about 100 catches this year... Julian Edelman... Seriously? Oh and Welker's got more TDs this year than he ever did with the Pats. Two conclusions can be drawn from this: 1. Any little white receiver playing the slot in the Pats offense is gonna get a lot of catches. 2. Peyton Manning is utilizing Welker's skills better than Brady ever did. /End thread.

Oh Klecko you...you make it too easy. Julian is a nice player, but he is no Wes Welker. Even without Gronk and/or Hernandez last year, the Patriots' offense has not looked this inept since 2006. Wes has more TDs because he is on the most talented offense ever. Peyton and the Broncos will set the passing TD and scoring records with ease. #1. While any small white guy could, given me a slim glimmer of hope, Wes is a far too talented to be lumped in with Edelman or Amendola. Look at the Patriots offense. #2. Point above. I cannot wait to they start getting paid so Peyton does not have all those 6'5 guys and Wes.
Jetsfan80
Bump. So we were told Wes Welker was an integral part of the offenses he's been in. But despite being out due to suspension and injury and getting limited targets upon his return, the Bronco offense keeps chugging. What gives?
