Pats fan here - totally disgusted

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been a member of JI for about 10 years now and I come out here every once in a while for some good football talk. I thought this new spying story deserved a Pats fans view.

I totally believe the Patriots coaching staff is guilty of this. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that if they have physical evidence that this took place that it took place.

That being said, I am incredibly disappointed in them. The leadership of the team just made the entire organization look bad, and for that I think heads should roll. If the tape shows the Patriots had an advantage during the game, the Patriots should forfeit the game.

I can't begin to tell you how disappointing this is. I really believe this team is as good as advertised, so this spying seems so unnecessary. All it is going to do is remove all credibility from a great team. So poor.

I would also say that the decisions of management do not make the players or the fans accountable. Yes, it gives great fodder for opposing fans, but it really isn't the soldiers who should be blamed, it should be the generals.

Just my 2 cents.

I just read that... its ashame both Pats fans and Jets fans need to be embarrassed about week one... Jets fans cheered their own player going down... and pats fans have a cheating team...

How is stealing the defensive signals correlate to knocking out your QB?

Your QB was knocked out for the same reason he took a beating in the pre-season. No OL.

Well there reportedly was wire taping too - but if you still believe the earth is flat then stealing defensive signals allowed the pats to get a big 3rd quarter lead which forced the Jets to pass and allowed NE's defense to tee off.

I just hard on the radio here in Orlando the NFL has also confiscated electronic equipment, rumored to have been used in stealing radio signals, from the Pats. This is just a rumor. But if this is true, the Pats are going to have the hammer dropped on them.

Chad should file a lawsuit against the Pats... if they were stealing offensive plays... no reason for him to get nailed and hurt because the Pats were cheating...

No. It was poor STs play that allowed the Patriots to take a big lead. The camera and film was reportedly seized in the first half. Again, how is that going to aid the Patriots?

Not claiming innocence or guilt, but the loss was not the conspiracy Jets' fans are making it out to be. The Patriots dominated from the first snap and only their mistakes kept the game close.

it now becomes clear why the Patriots offense never suffered after the loss of Charlie Weis, and further more why Bellichek didn't even hire a real OC to replace him. The camera replaced Charlie.

You are better then this. The JN has been spouting that Brady and the Patriots have not done crap since Charlie left. Now, the offense is running on all cylinders? Whatever.

IT WAS BOTH - he was filming both the Defensive coaches & the receivers coaches who could give possible changes at the line of scrimage prior to the snap.

Did anyone watch the game - PENNINGTON, prior to his injury was calling audibles constantly. It worked in the 1st half for the drive that lead to our 1st score.

However, it suddently lead to 2 sacks in the 3rd quarter?

3rd quarter...

And it was strange, though genius of Brian Schottenheimer, to have the offense stay in the huddle long enough to make the Pats defense think we would run out the clock but instead run a "hurry up" which lead to our only other score...

and wasn't it late in the 3rd that they nabbed this guy?

Hmmmm......

I heard the first half.

You are giving the Patriots too much credit.

They have to know what are real signals and what are not.

They have to see which defensive alignment was associated with which signal.

And somehow the Patriots managed to do this all in the first two hours of the game?

I am not saying they are innocent, but the alleged cheating had nothing to do with this game. Go look at your preseason play. Was that cheating also?

look, why in the world does anyone refer to this as the isolated first incident (in terms of how would they know what to do with the information and how could they decipher it so quickly)?

if it is a recurrent theme, then they would have been deciphering data over several years and several systems....not "on the fly" as the game was going on.

it seem pretty logical to me.

When your joke team stole the signals in the first half they had them FOR THE REST OF THE GAME. The jets don't change their defensive signals. Stop your pathetic spinning.

So when your team heard that they confiscated a camera from a Patriots employee during the game that was standing on your sideline, they neglected to tell the coaches?

Give up your spinning. The Jets got their asses kicked from the first snap.

it's not rocket science - if sutton flaps his wings like a bird and the jets blitz, the next time he flaps his wings, someone tells Brady the blitz is coming. there is no way they are collecting this information (illegal in and of itself) and not using it.

it's not a spin. There's no question the Pats are a better team and there's no question the Jets made too many mistkaes to win - but when a team steals signals like that, the whole affair goes from likely to sure thing. Any given sunday goes out the window. When i left the Meadowlands parking lot on Sunday I believed the Pats and Tom Brady were unbeatable - after hearing about the cheating, i'm not quite as sure.

You nailed it. Sitting in my seat I said no way they will ever beat this team again. That is how it felt. Belly and Brady felt truly unbeatable.

That's not the case. Or at least that is what these allegations make us feel. Harrison was brought down for HGH but he wasn't trying to get an unfair advantage he says. He just wanted to heal quicker, lol.

Morality the Belichick way. Unreal.

i left that stadium parking lot thinking that Tom Brady was the greatest QB in the history of mankind - hence my 'he sold his soul' thread - the guy was perfect - I was ready to write off the next 10 years of Jets football.

in retrospect - too good to be true.

oh don't get me wrong, he's still very very good but it's easy to look good when you are stealing the other team's signals.

also note the offense did ok on Sunday, not great but ok - they at least showed signs of life - but the defense looked Herm-esque... really really bad. and they couldn't get off the field. they aren't that bad of a defense.

the defense has to call their plays before the offense, because they have to get up to the line, it's not like they can decide to just stop using hand signals, like the offense can stop using the radio and use subs - on defense there is no good alternative.

Rhodes even said after the game it was like they knew what we were going to do before we do it... Al Harris said it after Green bay had the same experience..

it all makes alot of sense now.

to be honest i've already moved on from week 1- if the league can stop Belly from cheating in the future, that gives me hope enough.

I seriously doubt Mangini is going to be talking to security people during an NFL game. Your spinning is getting sadder and sadder.

Bit think about it.

He is recording the signals.

-He has to interpret them. Determining which are real and which are fake. Then correspond them to a play.

If Sutton is that effective at dissecting the Jets' signals, he needs to be a coach.

Ever think in this day and age the signal was directly fed to a computer in the booth?!?

I mean it is absurd to think they got a live feed.

Let me guess, the camera was a Betamax?

Mark Kriegel is a national columnist for FOXSports.com.

There was something off about the guy, the twitchy way he kept peering down at my computer, scanning the screen to avail himself my ample football acumen. I don't think this was my imagination. After all, the card at his seat (directly behind mine at Qualcomm Stadium) clearly identified him as a scout for the New England Patriots.

And now I fear he has my log-in and my credit card information and has used them to order a boatload of HGH, Viagra and Mexican brown from a Tijuana pharmacy. That's how they are, these Patriots. And it all starts with the guy at the top, the coach, Bill Belichick.

Now comes word that the NFL has seized videotape shot by another Patriots advance man. He is alleged to have filmed Jets defensive coaches as they were sending signals to the players. Obviously, New England's 38-14 victory owes much more to this spying than the Brady-to-Moss tandem.

Then again, one shouldn't be surprised. When it comes to Dirty Tricks, Belichick is pro football's Richard Nixon. Just the other week, Vikings coach Brad Childress accused him of shenanigans with regard to players on the waiver wire. "He was trying to leverage," said Childress. "But you always find out who is honest and straightforward."

The Jets should've found out long ago, back in 2000 after Bill Parcells resigned as coach. The Jets had a long-standing deal in place for Belichick to succeed Parcells. But Belichick quit in less than a day, his sole accomplishment being a famous resignation letter: "I resign as HC of the NYJ."

The league will deal with this spying issue as it must. There's a protocol to be followed. But I'm not letting Belichick's boys get away so easily. I'm considering a civil complaint. I want answers.

Granted.

That means you have to essentially a TV camera on the sideline. If Sutton had that, would it not draw a bit more suspicion? A transmitting/recording device that is just a little more hi-tech then the normal run of the mill camera you see on the sidelines. Then it has to be transmitted to a computer somewhere and broken down. Then the signals need to be associated with the correct defensive call.

Impossible to do? No. In the space of three hours? Very doubtful.
