Championships -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have purposely stayed out of this chad discussion until this morning. I have been reading alot so I am pretty aware of everyone opinions and view points. I always believed that the Pats would smoke us so I never got too up or down in expectation of that reality. The Jets have a lot of work to do and we all can agree on this. Before i posted this I decided as a NY Jets fan what is most important to me for this franchise. One word....Championships. I am not a fan of Chad or Kellen or Tuiasosopo. I am a fan of Championships. I am not a fan of Herm, bradway, tanny or Mangini. I am a fan of championships. Loyalty will only get you so far in this league. How many times have we seen a coaching staff hang on to a player 2 years too long based on loyalty? The only thing they should be loyal to is doing whatever they can to bring a Championship. So here are my takes on the 2007 Jets after yesterday: 1. After watching the pats and chargers, we cannot beat either of these teams, which we would need to in order to be in position for a championship. 2. Chad will not lead us to a championship. He does not have IT. This is not an anti chad post because he makes you love him by his persistence. But as we all agree, he IS limited. 3. One almost probowl safety and a past probowl MLB will not be enough to get the job done. Are we the browns defense or the lions defense? NO. But we not only do not have a championship defense, we dont have a playoff defense. 4. Finally, Do i believe that Clemens is the answer? I dont know. I have not seen enough of him to answer. I just cannot count the preseason because it is not real. He may be great and I have a feeling that we may know soon. All i hope is that Mangini doesnt show the same stubborness with the QB situation as he has with the 3-4. I would like to see him get his chance if for no other reason than I am a fan of championships and we are not touching one anytime soon the way our team is configured. Dont bother replying to this if you are going to tell me how I am not a true fan and all that because i dont believe in tangini whole heartedly or because i dont think chad can lead us to a super bowl. I have already read all THOSE posts. Championships arent role models. Championships dont hand off the ball or throw a pass. Championships dont play hurt when your team needs them the most. Championship don't call the plays. Championships are nothing but a banner that raises at the start of the season and ring and trophy THE PLAYERS get.. Championships don't make the player... PLAYERS MAKE THE CHAMPIONSHIP... If Championships are all you care about you wouldnt be a Jets fan or a fan of any team, you'd be a bandwagon jumper for who ever wins the big one every year. NY JETS 29 Posted September 10, 2007 Share Posted September 10, 2007 anyone who can say KC is the answer would be plain stupid, we havent seen this kid play in a meaningful regular season game yet. If chads banged up for sunday and he comes out storching the ravens secondary until then it would be assanine to say KC is the answer, are long term answer at QB may be playing in college right now or for another NFL team we dont know. Every fan wants championships...Trust me you're not the only one here. The question is what do we need to do to get to the championship? In my eyes, I like how Mangini is building from the ground up and is filling this team with young, home-grown guys at key positions... Give it a few years, and we'll be contending at the very least.
