Scott Dierking
Bottom line-Even very good coaches are allowed to have games like this. But, very good coaches come back from games like this and make huge adjustments. This is where we find out about Mangini. What kind of adjustments does the man make? History has proven that very good coaches can cover up deficiencies in personnel and can win with them. Look what Bellichick did with a decimated secondary a couple of years ago. Look at what Bill Parcells did with Ray Lucas. Ray freakin' Lucas! (he screwed up with Mirer, but that is another story). Very good coaches hide their inadaquencies and play to their strengths. Mangini is going to have to pull a rabbit out of his hat. He is going to have to be the king of misdirection and 3 yards and a cloud of dust. He is going to be have to preach patience and mistake free football. This is where we learn about Eric Mangini. It will actually be fun to watch. Different game, different set of problems. The Great coaches are able to make chicken salad out of chicken @!70. Bellichick has done it numerous times, as well Parcells. Great coaches put players in positions to win. Mangini's ball.

There are ways to overcome that. It will be a plodding offense and a risk taking defense, but it is possible.
