9/11

Just got an email ,which has been circulating , from a friend . It suggests that every American fly the flag today in honor of the 9/11 victims. Sounded like an excellent idea that I wanted to share with the Jets Nation. Thai

Mines flown with a flood light on it from the big pine tree in my front yard 24/7/365 since the evening of 9/11/01. It was the only thing I could think to do, but still felt helpless.

May we never forget those who lost their lives.

One news station was replaying the broadcast from the morning of 9.11.01.. I was saddened and sickened all over again.

Every station should do this every year.. it's way too easy to forget.

God Bless anybody directly affected. God Bless America.

That was a scary morning... I remember being confused as can be... I did not understand what was happening at first... still freaks me out today just thinking about what I was watching...

July 2001-I visited NYC for the very first time. Saw the sights, took in the city, etc. Snapped a bunch of photos on one of those disposable cameras. Got home a week later, had them developed, and there is a perfect shot of the towers from where I was out on the Staten Island ferry. They were perfectly centered in that photo with the other buildings surrounding them on either side.

I won't ever forget that, and I still look at the pic frequently. For those of you who live up there in the area and go to the city alot, seeing the WTC then probably wasn't something spectacular because it was part of your surroundings. To me, a regular guy living in NC, it was just one part of this massive city and something to be marveled. Now I am sure we all feel this way when we see images of the Towers. Never forget.

I had to drive into Jersey for an appointment that morning. I had no idea what was happening. As I was driving over the Raritan bridge, I turned to check my blindspot and saw the towers smoking.. what an ominous sight. Ugh. Seeing it on tv is one thing, seeing it live is quite another. I will never ever forget that.

I think I could honestly say that I have never been more terrified in my entire life.

I used to work at the WTC. Their spectacularity was never lost on me and I *still* can't wrap my brain around the fact that they no longer exist. For those of us who saw them on a regular basis, seeing the skyline sans the twin towers is an indescribable feeling.

I actually worked for a company up here that had/has an office less than 10 blocks from the trade center... my co-worker was supposed to go down to the office that day but actually quit that morning... best decision he ever made...

I live in California now, but I was born and raised in Queens NY. I lived my entire life seeing those 2 towers there as part of the NY city skyline. I have been back since the attack , and I have yet to be able to visit the site, because to be honest, I can't handle it. The day will come when I will bring myself to do so. But it just isn't that time yet. I remember everything that happened that day. I was already living here, but all my friends and family still live in the tri state area. I remember trolling around like a zombie all day. I will never forget the feeling inside me when the first tower fell. Damn be the bastards that took away the lives of many of our friends and familes. Many people are still affected to this day by the effects of being in the area during the search and recovery period. More people will die from that . I will never forget this for as long as I live. We must continue to teach our kids about this too. It's sad, but I get the feeling that many people have forgotten what was taken from us 6 years ago. May god bless those that passed away, as well as every family member affected . Maybe god can have mercy on those responsible, because I sure as heck DO NOT.

I am not sure people have forgotten but I know what you mean. It is certainly a different world these days. Getting searched everywhere is a constant reminder.

It is a fine line. But it is nice to drive over a bridge without fearing that it will blow up. Trying to find the balance is tough at times. Remembering is one thing. Living your life in fear is another. Sadly they are hard to distinguish at times.

That is why I think a lot of people seem like they don't remember. The reality is too painful.

May God Bless all those impacted by this horrible event.

I think you would have a slightly different opnion if you lived outside of New York. It just seems that those of us from there , or those that live there, were impacted in a way that others were not. I'm not saying that the rest of the country didn't care. Just that for us, it hits home in a whole different way.

OH -- I totally get what you are saying now. And I agree. We remember where we were that day, there are visual reminders. For those away from this part of the Country I am sure it is easier to forget.

Kind of misread your post the first time.

Sorry about that bro, I just noticed how it feels to lose someone very important.

R.I.P to everyone...

Thanks Ghost. I almost lost my 1st cousin Larry as well. He worked as a bond broker in one of the towers on the 96 th floor but switched companys in the spring of 01. The new company was in building 7 of the WTC complex. Everyone he used to work with at the old company was killed. Man, I just can't imagine what went through his mind that day, Scary as hell.
