Belichick speaks with Goodell, apologizes for videotape flap

Associated Press

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- This videotape needs no interpretation: New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick walked out of his news conference on Wednesday when pressed repeatedly about the sideline spying scandal that landed him on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's crowded docket.

Ten minutes before his regular availability, Belichick issued a one-paragraph statement apologizing to his team and confirming that he has spoken to Goodell about an "interpretation" of league rules that ban videotaping of the opposing sideline.

Patriots under investigation for following rules, guidelines violations ...

1. Page 105 of the Game Operations manual says: "No video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game." It later says: "All video shooting locations must be enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead."

2. And, a memo from Ray Anderson, NFL head of football operations, to head coaches and GMs on Sept. 6, 2006 said: "Video taping of any type, including but not limited to taping of an opponent

What gets me about this is that Beliprick NEVER DOES say WTF he's apologizing for. I can't wait till Friday when we'll all find out what the peneltys will be. I'd love to see BB get suspended for 4 games or so. If they do it to the players for cheating why not the coaches?

You guys are going to be very unhappy then when the edict comes down from the commisioner.

The Pats are not going to have to forefit the game.

They are not going to have forefit any picks to the Jets.

What is probably going to happen is that the Pats will have to forefit two picks. One on day (Hopefully one of their firsts) and a second day pick.

There will be a large fine (Not that big a deal).

And probably a one game suspension for Bellicheat. (I would like to see two games).
