Looking Back Now:(Curious type s--t)

1.Was the Keyshawn trade good?-we never got to the bottom of that. Keyshawn(24 years old) for Shaun Ellis and Anthony Becht.

2.Was trading a #13,#22 and a conditional to move up to #4 and grab D-Rob a Good Move? Troy Polamalu-16 /Willis McGahee-23 /Dallas Clark-24/ Larry Johnson-27

3. Mangold for Abraham? - OK, forget Joe Fields,I mean Mangold for a minute.

What would a healthy Abraham look like in this 3-4 if we had kept him?

OLB like Thomas, but better? or Coleman's spot on the other end?

I absolutely HATED the move at the time to grab D'Rob. He came out of no where and was "rapidly moving up the boards" prior to the draft. I'm watching his game tape (KU vs Bama) and I'm thinkin WTF ???? Am I missing something here? I was livid with Wrongway when he made that deal and I still am. ................................................................. Would I do Mangold for Abraham? In a heart beat. Not even close. Your NFG to the team if you're on the IR.

Henderson tried moving Abraham to OLB here & there before Mangini got here. His logic was that he could get to the QB even faster & more effectively if he got a running start. He sucked at it. Thomas is a better OLB. And was resistant & whined b/c he didn't want to do it. Most likely b/c he didn't have a new contract yet & big-name linemen make more than big-name linebackers (anything for the team, right?). He also would have warranted a $50M contract (Thomas' & Cotchery's contracts combined) and we'd still be either looking for an OC. Now you see what happens once he's gotten paid: if he doesn't feel every bit of 100% he's going to call in sick.

The Keyshawn trade was great. Whether the players we took were worth it (or whether the Jets made the most of those players) is something different. But if you can parlay an loudmouth player, holding out of camp, who isn't top-5 at his position, into two first-round draft picks, I liked Keyshawn when he was here. As I like Coles right now. But if Coles was not under contract, was demanding top-5 WR money, and we were offered a two-first-round-picks parachute? Yeah, I'd take it.

The DRob trade was stupid for a few reasons. First of all, that conditional pick was a 4th-rounder. The players taken at that spot & within the next 5 picks were Ian Scott, Jeremi Johnson, Asante Samuel, & Justin Griffith. And all 3 of those picks combined wouldn't have been as much as DRob's contract. This trade was bad for the same reason the Keyshawn trade was good, except worse b/c Keyshawn was established as clearly being a non-bust. To compound things, DRob was the player we sought. The draft started on Saturday as always. I believe this trade was made a day earlier. So this means we didn't know if the player we traded up to get was even going to be there.

Yup you are correct. We traded on the Thursday or Friday just prior to the draft. Too bad he wasn't taken at #3. :P

Right. The Abraham and Keyshawn deals were made for contract reasons. It's not strictly fair to compare the players. I vehemently deny that when healthy John Abraham is not better at any position than Thomas, but that is 100% irrelevant because we wouldn't and couldn't pay him.

Yea what Sperm said. Also to pile on D-Rob a little more wasn't he drafted solely on potential since he didn't do much in college?

On the Abraham point a bit, even though he would've been too expensive and was always hurt, I do think he could've been a dangerous rush backer for us. Wasn't he dominant at that position in college? (Correct me if I'm wrong there)
