MSGold12
There was a bit more but this is the relevant part.... Sure, people cheat in sports. In baseball they steal signals. In football they bring in a guy for a week, someone who was just cut by the team they're going to play, pump him for information and let him go on Monday. They'll even plant spies at each other's practices. But the things that make this Patriots flap so bothersome are the following:
Green DNA
Wow, just wow. I hope Goodell is aware of half of the crap flying around on this issue. I understand that you cannot increase the severity of a punishment based upon hearsay, but the Patriots appear to have been involved in systemic cheating for years. CoachTsurfing
It taints their superbowl championship for sure. I feel bad for players that had no clue, or had to just shut up and take it. For others like Vrabel, they are a piece of you know what.
flgreen
Now there is an idea for punishment. Have Lil Bill put in stocks in the Meadowlands parking lot 2 hours before the next home game, to be abused by drunken fans as the enter the stadium. NIGHT STALKER
I just read that entire article. Are they trying to make some Jet fans like myself commit a felon? Everyday since this story broke my anger towards that organization gets worse...their fans included. Why their fans? Well, thanks to message boards like this where these ball busting Patsie fans come and spew their "we're better than anyone" attitude. You know, I'm a transplanted New Yorker and I've lived in Florida since September of 1970...Shula's first year with the fins. I grew a hatred for that team that went way beyond just a friendly confrontation with fin fans...I'm talking about physical brawls in the 70's and 80's...I was even ejected from the old Orange Bowl back in '73. But, this cheating thing with the Pats is way beyond anything with the fins...way beyond. Yeah, I know, it's only a game, but when you come home from Vietnam back in April of '69 and are looking forward to seeing Joe Willie win a few more only to be disappointed, it gets to you. I've been waiting all these years...it's tough. You give your time, money, family members passing away and you have to contend with a team that cheats now? No way...sorry...and I'm trying to be calm as I type this. It's tough...I loaded two of my buddies on a medevac chopper out of the A Shau Valley that day the Jets won...they were KIA on the day I was supposed to be real happy about my Jets...I'll never forget. I earned my right (I'm sure a lot of us have) to be really pissed at this...I won't forget this either.

Get writing! Joe, I didn't mean to get dramatic on everyone, but you have to understand or at least try where I'm coming from. I was an Army Ranger with the 101st A/B and we were in a fierce confrontation with the NVA for months leading up to "Hamburger Hill" battle that happened in May of '69. I didn't find out the Jets won the championship until I was choppered off of that hill...three days later.

Well, thanks to message boards like this where these ball busting Patsie fans come and spew their "we're better than anyone" attitude. i agree and let me add, I went up to Foxboro for the playoff loss last season and was abused to an extreme extent. It actually got to the point where I was glad the Jets were losing because I would have probably been beaten up had they won. Poor winners and even worse losers, the Pats fans are terrible as a group. Jets fans might be disgusting and classless but we aren't jerks and don't think we are better than anyone else. I have been surfing Pats message boards to see how they are reacting to this, and let me tell you, don't go there unless you want to get angrier. They are all in various forms of denial, anger and bargaining. it's disgraceful.
drago
now the pats messed up their opponents headsets? what the hell. i think that is the craziest one. are you kidding? you can't stop them so you turn off their headsets? i notice they only do it when they need it too. Last year the Lions were up big against the Pats, you don't think Detroit needed that win? What an absolute joke, they are holding their finger over all the teams in the league based on cheating. This pisses me off to no end. The Lions deserved that win last year, and they didn't get it because BB can turn off a REAL offensive genius' head set. this really pisses me off. I am saying, what you have is a great backstory for an interesting hollywood thriller. I am not discounting what you went through. Hardcore jets fan gets drafted just as his team is on the verge of greatness, he is pulled from the world and dumped in the Sh#t, he is disconnected from the world and the sport he loves, maybe he played highschool ball, had a shot at college and the pros, when his passion, his team, reaches glory he is disconnected and unaware as he is going through the loss and hell of war, only to see that he is repaid by missing the one thing he cares about. BLAHBLAHBLAH time goes on, jets debacle after debacle has led to a fan with such blackness and hatred in his heart that right when it looks like they are knocking on glory's door again, he is robbed, this time by the coach of the team most despised by jets fans, and the team that is todays modern dynasty. He decides to exact revenge for being robbed and having the only thing left in life he cares about stolen from him again, blahblahblah some very methodical, twisted, and exciting retribution is meeted out to the offending coach and team, blahblahblahblah the team finally gets back to the SB, but our hero(or villian) is not there yet again as he is forced to listen to the radio coming from the guard station in his cell block announcing the win. The story has holes, especially the second half, and it is cheesey, but i think it could be a cool movie, at least as good as The Fan or any other stalker-type movie. flgreen
I understand that you cannot increase the severity of a punishment based upon hearsay, Oh yes you can. Don't forget this is not a court of law. The same paramaters don't apply. Remember Pacman was never convicted of a crime, he was just a fool who was embarrassing the league. If ole 23 YO Pacman was handed a one year suspension for acting like a tool, don't you think Goodell is going to hammer Lil Bill and the Pats for embarrassing the league by cheating in multiple games? Bill is not the most popular dude in the league. I'm sure the Commis phone has been ringing since this story broke. Now we are going to find out if Goodell is just a bully when it comes to punishing 23 year old kids, or is he going to smack the powerful and gloryius ones up in NE. If he doesn't hammer them, do you think the NFLPA is going to continue helping him in his crackdown of the young players, if the owners and coaches get away with cheating? Don't think so.
