I Think I'm Done With The NFL For A While

If this is what it comes down to? A half million dollars of stolen money as a fine and no suspension? Sorry, I'll watch with a glancing interest but nothing more...I've done it before and can surely do it again-screw it-if I now have to KNOW the games are fixed-why even watch? Why spend my money on it?

Great question! Why spend money on it IF there is only a fine and no suspension plus the 2 picks!

I feel the same way, I'm quite sad about it actually. I have always spent so much time living, breathing, watching and paying attention to the jets and the nfl. I have no idea what I would do with that time, but if the nfl doesn't take this seriously enough , I don't really have a choice. sucks.

Agreed, if that's what happens, I think I'll just have to take a big step back from the NFL and my beloved Jets too. Why invest all this time and emotion and money on something that's not even legitimate. I'll be a bandwagon fan should the Jets get really good but otherwise it'll be no different than professional wrestling to me.........

I can understand this mentality, and I really think you need to write to Goodell and some reporters so that they know how serious of an issue it is to you. Then maybe these corporate soulless creatures would understand that you don't just watch the bottom line, but that integrity is huge to fans.

We have, more than a few times :)

Interesting thoughts guys...first baseball and the nonsense, the NBA and the refs, hell hockey had some issues that have been ignored, even european soccer had a huge gambling scandal.. It does kind of suck when you think you are watching something pure to only get jilted. I never thought it would be this type of scandal in the NFL, always thought it would be the ref thing as well. Hey you never know that could be next

Over 55 Slo pitch softball. There has never been a scandal in its history.

Except for that 53 year old the Bayville Bombers brought in brought in 3 years ago Senior. Heard they gave him a cane and everything to make it look good.

I'm sticking around just for the Garv. Me and my wife watch those videos together, laughing with tears in our eyes. It's twice as funny for her, because she thinks he's serious.

:Typotux:

His POS video earlier in the week is going to be nothing compared to what his next one will be. TheGarv is funny as hell.

Everyone and their mamas knows that pro sports games are fixed, to some degree at least. Umpires, referees, sometimes they try to fix a game and the team that deserves to win really does win desoite an attempted fix. But sometimes the team that doesnt deserve to win really wins because of a fix.

You just hope that they fix it for your team one of these years when your team is good enough to the point where you make it deep into the playoffs and you need a call to go your way, you get it.

Because it's what we live for.

Sorry, I don't live for watching a bunch of cheats, I lived for watching a sport, something that the nfl must not want to be anymore.

What sport don't they cheat at?

Whether your head was buried in the sand, most of the professional sports leagues are billion dollar businesses, save the NHL. Owners, GMs, Coaches and Players earn millions of dollars and their lively hood depends on it. Yes, we all could easily live on a year of Tom Brady's salary for the rest of our lives. However, as moronic as Patrick Ewing sounded during the NBA Strike it is kind of true. "We make alot of money so we spend alot money." THink an owner, GM, coach or player wants to one day be knocked down to our level? Hell no.

The stuff you see in sports is the same shady $hit you see in the regular business world. Only happens in a different environment with millions watching.
