Enjoy it folks. I'm leaving for the airport right now to head off to Madrid (didnt realize when I booked the trip two months ago who the Yanks were playing).

Here's to another three game sweep

Hope the Boston sweep doesn't spoil the trip ;). Have a good, SAFE, trip AFJF. Watch your 6.

Friday: Pettitte vs. Dice-K

Saturday: Beckett vs. Wang

Sunday: Schilling vs. Clemens

I say the Sox take 2 of 3 and wrap up the division. Sox only need 6 wins to get to 95. Yankees need 12. If by some stroke of luck the Yankees sweep, MAYBE it gets interesting. But I doubt it.

Yanks have the pitching advantage game one, after that its even.

No reason why the Yanks shouldnt take 2 of 3. Considering the Yanks have had the Sox number recently.

I think the Yanks losing last night took alot of steam out of the series for me.

Even if the Yanks sweep they are still 2.5 out.

Kennedy pitched a brilliant game last night, the bats just didn't show up.

I'll tell you what will in the end keep the Yanks from winning the division. Go take a look at the series' where if the Yanks win the last game of the series they sweep. Probably 5 or 6 times this year they have blown that last game and it has cost them. If they win even half those games then the Sox lead is probably 2 games or less and this series means alot more.

Still though Yanks and Sox are always fun and the Sox need to figure a way to beat the Yanks just for their own post season psyche.

And Thank you Big Papi for bailing the Sox out with your walkoff.

The Yanks need a sweep. Hopefully, the bats will show up before 7th inning of each game this time.

The way Dice-K is pitching I agree with you on that, but he might spin a beauty. Never can tell. I'll also give the nod to our guys in games 2 and 3. Stark had an interesting column about Cy Young Candidates and Wang was not in his top five. Here is his reasoning:

"Why not Wang? Because even though he's 18-6 (after not winning any games in April), he has also had the most run support, held the opposition under three earned runs the fewest times and made it through seven innings less than any other starter on our leaderboard. In fact, if you take the W-L column out of this equation, then Erik Bedard, Dan Haren, Fausto Carmona and Justin Verlander all have outpitched Wang (whom Baseball Prospectus has ranked as only the 13th-best pitcher in the AL in the VORP standings)."

And I'll take Schilling who has been dominating lately over Clemens who has been average and injured.

2 out of 3 from the Yanks could be feasible, and wouldn't be too bad I suppose considering there are 15 games left and you'd only gain one game and lose 3 on the schedule. I still think the Sox take 2 of 3 though.

In 19 of Wangs 27 starts he's given up 3 earned runs or less and in 10 he's given up one or less.

Not bad.
