Great baseball night - last night

It was very cool to turn off the phones and sit back and watch two of the greatest rivalries in baseball last night with the Cubs/Cards and Yanks/Sox a channel apart on the cable. Especially when the games had post season positioning on the line. Great games - the Cubs pen tried to give it back to the Cards in the 9th and the Yanks thrown on 6 in the 8th to come from behind. The national pastime at its finest.

The only downside was having to listen to the Herman Edwards of baseball, Ditsty Baker, offer his expert commentary and opinions. Actually thats not fair to Baker, he has already assured himself the clown of professional sports in the new millenium title by bungling his way out of even a clubhouse manager position. Not to be outdone, Hermy is working hard on being drug behind a pickup truck in KC.

I thought minor league baseball was already over? :confused:

It doesn't need your endorsement dude. There's eight digits worth of people who have it on theirs.

Digits = fingers.

Yes, I agree. There are probably 8 people in America who would consider it a great rivalry. ;)

But countless millions would consider Yankees - Bosox, Dodgers - Giants, and a few others, well ahead of Cubs - Cards.

Ok MBN - I'll play. I give you Yanks/Red Sox are #1 with Dodgers/Giant's at #2 - I acknowledge that from the get go. Who's # 3 and the few others that are well ahead of the Cubs/Cards? I can't find polls to support it - but I'll bet you the Cubs/Cards are # 3 on a nationwide basis even though they are not or were not "New York" teams. Especially when you figure the Cubs have a large national following due to WGN being one of the first syndicated stations on cable. That and humans are inherently masochistic.

Intercity/interleague rivalries don't count either as up until recently the games meant nothing except bragging rights. Give me your read.
