JetCane
I have Game 5 of the ALCS on YES (when chambliss hit the game-winning HR) There was an announcement on the PA during the bottom of the ninth (before his HR) asking fans not to run on the field after the game and to show good sportsmanship, which got me thinking how times have changed: 1976: Please do not run on the field. Please show good sportsmanship. 1986: Please do not throw objects on the field. 1996: Please do not run on the field and beat on the umpire. 2006: Please do not carry any explosives into the stadium. I'm gonna show my age on this one. I can remember as a kid (50's and 60's) that they use to make an announcemnt that after the game you could exit through the center field exits after the game. I did that several times with the old man. Parking was a bitch in those days...you would park in these make shift parking lots around the stadium...good luck if you were the first car in because it took forever to get out. Bob
Is this post inspired by Robinson Cano having his hat stolen last night? That was actually kind of funny. I hope they dropped the piss-drunk ******* on his head as they escorted him out, though.

When HBO did its "When it was a Game" series there were some clips there that showed people acutally getting out of the stadium by walking on the field. Wish that could happen today but you can be pretty sure that people would be ripping up the field taking pieces home with them now to sell on ebay. I recorded that 1976 game 5 ALCS as well. I think Bob Shepperd was telling the fans not to throw things on the field, (which during the 70's was pretty common place, 10 cent beer night in Cleveland in 74, the Rose-Harrelson fight stand out). Fans were throwing bottles and the such before the start of the bottom of the ninth.

Bob
I took my family to a Jays game in Toronto in 2001. My kids (and hundreds of others) got to run the bases afterward while we waited on the field, behind home plate. I was really impressed with the whole experience up there.
