Maybe Boston can still win the wildcard.

I second that.

That smiley is yawning guys. I know that when you see the mouth open and the lips move you automatically think it's a tribute to the bond shared between Man-Ram and Tavarez...sorry to burst your bubble.;)

The chase for the Red Sox choke. All we need to do is tie to win the division I believe since we won the regular season series. Is this correct that we would win the division or is there another tiebreaker that comes into play first?

I think there would be a one game playoff like there was in 78 and again between the M's and Angels in the late 90s.

And would the Yankees then be the home team because they were 10-8 against Boston? We all know who would win that game.

If Boston wins 5 games of it's next 11 the Yankees have to win 9 of the last 12. So the Yanks have to play .750 ball and the Sox just .500.

And so on and so forth. It's possible, but not probable. And the Red Sox have a 99.9 % chance of making the playoffs according to this:

The same Boston that is 5-5 in it's last 10.

The same yankees that are 8-2 in their last 10.

How long before you go for the double whammy excuse of injuries and payroll?:bs_lame:

The same injury excuses Yankee fans were using at the beginning of the year. Not many of the smarter Sox fans ever counted out the Yankees as far as making the playoffs. About two or three weeks ago I counted them out for the division. It still is a long shot for the Yankees to win the division and I don't see it happening. And I don't see us playing .500 ball through the end of the regular season. Although Manny going for a second opinion and Youks being out "longer than expected" doesn't bode well for an already average lineup. I shudder to think where this team would be without Jacoby Ellsbury coming up and providing an instant spark in all aspects of the game. I'd almost equate it to the instant lift Joba gave your pen in solidifying the 8th inning.

How is 3.5 games a "longshot"?
