Middle School Moments

I love coaching middle schoolers since they are so concerened with appearance, and doing things that are socially acceptable. if you have any funny stories on yourself acting like a fool just to fit in, post it, i want a good laugh. Here's one of mine...

In seventh grade i had study hall with Julia Sullivan. Well i just thought Julia was dreamy and would always try to talk to her, i'm sure it was very ackward conversation, but hey, no one ever accused me of being smooth.

So Julia and I are talking and she actually invites me to move from the row behind her to sit at her desk (two chairs at each desk). I move up, and playing it cool (so she woudln't know i liked her) i sit in the chair next to her, but move it as far away from her as possible, further proving to her that i am clearly not interested. I then tip the chair back to play it really cool.

We are talking a bit, she is actually some what interested in what i am saying, and we talk about how yawning always makes the person that sees it yawn. Julia claims it doesn't make her yawn. Well this is just impossible, so i spent the rest of the day trying to make her yawn. This included me chasing her down the hall (at a near full speed sprint) yawning at her.

Every time i think about that i shake my head and smile.

for extra credit once the teacher said we could take a frog we had dissected in class home and extract and clean the skeleton. my friend and i took two home and boiled one at his house to soften it up. his mom came in and found a frog boiling in her kitchen and was furious. so we took it outside and started hacking the guts out. we threw them into the yard only to watch his dog gobble them up. after and hour of pulling tendons and meat off the bones, we decided to let it sit in bleach overnight. the next day, the bones were clean and perfect... until we moved the bowl. as the bleach sloshed around, the bones disintegrated into powder. the second frog we put in the freezer in his garage where it sat for over 15 years until his mom finally found it and pitched it a couple months ago.
