afosomf
Our real Franchise QB 2 years ago Vince Young will be a HOF QB and he is fun to watch to boot I know he was a High risk/reward selection, and many on this board complained about his throwing motion... this kid can play ball and to be honest we blew it. Trading up was the only option for us, going from 4 to 3 should have been a slam dunk.. Oh well we did get a brick or a rock or whatever you call it. I like VY, he seems to be putting it together somewhat. Problem with your idea is that I don't think Tenn was willing to give up on a chance to draft VY. Maybe we would have duped them into thinking we wanted Leinart (possible) and then they could have taken VY a slot lower to save some money. But, given Tenn's QB situation before the draft I doubt they would have traded with the Jets for anything less than highway robbery.

Ghost
Vince Young is a winner, he's a complete warrior. I'm just glad we didn't draft him because of the past with African-American QB's. This is not a racial comment at all, but if you look at the past and you'll know what I'm talking about.

If you're talking about pure running QB's winning the Super Bowl then yes, none have done it. I don't think VY is a pure scrambler though. Maybe Mr. Chow is working his magic again and Jetcane is right. Or maybe I'm just speculating like I always do.

Good call, we can have VY, no mangold, and probably no Leon, clemens, and/or brad smith. our defense sucks, our o-line would be an absolute wreck, but we would have a QB who seems pretty good so far. Give me a f()ckin break. We need so much more than a damn QB. Until this guy walks on water we should have done exactly what we did or trade DOWN to amass more picks to fill our weak (at best) roster of nobodies. serphnx
Time will ultimately show we got the best QB in the 2006 draft. Yeah, too bad he will be playing for another team because we won't start him until his contract is up. He signed what, a 4 year contract? He rode the bench last year, and will probably ride it this year too. And if he's going to ride it that long, why not let 33 year old Chad Pennington play the 2 years after that as well? Gannon didn't get great until like 37 right? Gannon is very similar to CP in how they play. That is the dilemma we have. If we don't start Clemens soon, he will have his contract ending before we really know what we have, and then we have to commit a lot of money or lose him to somebody else who will take a shot at him. In that scenario do we let CP go and have him become a pro bowler on another team and roll the dice on Clemens, or do we let Clemens walk and commit to CP, and just draft another QB to groom as a backup and eventual starter when CP retires, perhaps 5-8 years in the future? I'd rather not be in Mangini's position having to make this decision.

EB...you're my boy and all and I used to feel the same way as you. We all have....it's part of being a J-E-T-S fan....but things have changed my friend....you're like 2 years behind the curve man. Catch up. Things are 225X better now than they were when Herman Edwards & Terry were here. Our lines need work but we are putting together a decent core of players who want to win and a coach who will not take any ****. Not to mention he just jammed his foot 3ft up BB's ass in front of the world embarrassing him. There is no reason to be so angry....not now. I agree, once Mangini gets all the pieces, and thats an IF to be fair, he'll get this team over the hump. But 1 of those many pieces we need is the QB - and it aint Chad. And I am beyond dissapointed in Eric for not playing Clemens from here on out. Totally nutless move, same old jets. NO BALLS!
