AFJF
Hard to believe this is the same guy who came in and gave the yankees 'pen some great innings last year.
shawn306
I think last night was an indication of what the Yanks intend to do this week. The fact that they didn't go to either Rivera or Chamberlain with the game tied showed me that Joe is conceding the division to the Red Sox and is going to take his chances as the wild card I really hate the fact that it looks like the Yanks are takin their foot off the pedal. This isn't the 98-2000 Yankees where they can turn it on or off on a moments notice. If they shut it down now they may not get it started again next week. And if Mo and Jaba are overworked going in, they will lose in the 1st round. I think Joe is doing the right thing. FIgure out the Pen. That is the most important thing. Right now Clev has the best record, the Yankees would face them. The Yankees have not been good on the road this year. I would much rather have them avoid a West Coast trip if possible. The worry is as with the last few years, the deadness rolls right over into the ALDS. I understand how Torre's even keel temperament kept this team together since the All Star break. But tghe last few years anyway, it may have been a negative come the playoffs. A 5-game series is really nothing in terms of time. They have to seize it by the throat this year. Other worry-starting pitcher like Pettitte or Kennedy is mowing them down through 6 or 7 innings, pitch count approaching 3 digits but no problems, and then Torre HAS TO GO TO HIS PEN to remind everyone that he's managing. I FARKING HATE THAT. And he will do it again and again the playoffs.
