Mean Papi Green
Pavlik vs. Taylor -who do you like Mean Papi? I like Pavlik to beat Taylor. I have liked Pavlik all along, he sold me when he KO'd Mirando BUT.........after watching countdown I kind of like how Taylor has been looking in training. Manny has him up in teh Poconos sequestered for teh first time in his career and no Manny fighetr has ever lost after training up in the mountains I used to like Taylor alot but thought he has slipped lately, he needs this fight to keep his rep up and maintain his title (obviously), I'd like to think that the fighter that I grew to really like years ago was not a fraud bottom line Kelly will be teh agressor and will not back down so this fight could be just as furious as Pavlik Miranda was and that is gonna be great for teh sport and the fact tahts its a free fight makes it even more exciting

MMA has its issues too, but there are tons of great fights and great fighters in boxing 2007 and 2008 are both great years for boxing and MMA will NEVER generate the type of revenue that boxing does or will do...NEVER...so how is boxing dying?? If you polled the general populace, I doubt 95% can name the heavy weight champion. I would be Mike Tyson would get a lions share of the votes also. Plus, MMA is accessible. You can see the contenders on TV and on ocasion like a few weeks back, you can see the top fight on regular cable TV. Boxing gives you guys you never heard of on ESPN. MMA is making a lot of money. Their purses might not be what Tyson pulls down, but I am willinng to bet a middle weight does not pull down what Lidell made off his last fight. I'm not an MMA fan. But I understand why it's taken off, and why boxing declined. The actually fight in MMA. Boxing for too long wanted merely to mepty your pocket, and damn the quality of the product. There aren't any good fights or fighters, spare may be Arturo Gatti. When's the last time you saw someone like Marvin Hagler or Tommie Hearns? Every other boxer is some tiny guy who hits softer than a beanbag, or a huge bloated nonathlete heavyweight. I'm not paying $49.95 to get ripped off or set up of the next crappy PPV card. All these greedy promoters and alphabet soup organizations and, frankly, lousy boxers have finally managed to kill boxing as a viable sport in America. I'm tired of getting ripped off. One thing that always pissed me off-the promoters had a classy guy who fought his heart out in Marvin Hagler. But Hagler was smart enough to look out for his own business interests, which is still a rarity among fighters(may be Foreman's 2nd coming is the only other one). They didn't want to do business with a guy who looked over their nonsense books and wanted what he rightly deserved. Instead they promoted the crap out of a dancer like Ray Leonard and then Oscar De La Hoya. They even stole Leaonard a decision against Hagler. It was the beginning of the end. The lesson leagions of boxers took was that there was no money in beinga real fighter, so why bother? Hagler basically quit and moved to Italy. The one problem is that teh top fighters cant stay on top for too long, as soon as your sport gets a face (Chuck Liddell) his career goes down teh crapper (2 consecutive losses) it's hard for anyone to even defend their belt because the fights are so open to freak chance (St Pierre) so you never really know who is really teh best fighter out there because one slip and you could get KO'd or tapped out. That is teh biggest challenge the sport will have, but they will survive as long as there is always fresh new talented blood to enter the Octagon The new upstarts are definately putting together strong shows as well and will keep the competition up (Elite XC, WEC). the one move that I'm waiting on is to see UFC on HBO, theye were supposed to have their first eventy in July but it never happened, that could be a deal that will help push them higher to the top of the game
