JetCane
"I've been a part of a lot of defenses where there were many yards [given up]," Mangini said. "What you're looking for is points, points for the opponent, making sure you have more than they do at the end of the game." I get it, it's a bend but dont break defense. But they are breaking too often. This is not to excuse, for example, the Jets' 27th overall defensive ranking after three games or the four consecutive 10-yard-plus plays with which Miami started its first fourth-quarter series. But hang in there, fans. Improvement happened last season, and it will happen
Green DNA
I get it, it's a bend but dont break defense. But they are breaking too often. I'm all for seeing improvement. But if they dont show any improvement, get Sutton out of there. They're bending all right, bending over and getting anally violated in a brutal fashion. Apart from that, everthing's fine. Jetman_67
If they were just giving up some yards that would be fine. But to be giving points like they were candy is unacceptable. Im surprised that Mangini could possibly be satisfied with the play of the defense. There is no pass rush and they cant stop the run. Opening day Brady had no pressure on him all day. if you give a qb the time he will burn you bad.

If ERIC lets him deliver the goods, I will predict that we will have a fiery Defense that plays with enthusiasm.

Opening day Brady had no pressure on him all day. if you give a qb the time he will burn you bad. Opening day is over and done with. Our defense has played poorly so far, but the season is not over. Stop whining about the 4/3. We are not going back to it, because Mangini prefers the 3.4. Eventually we will get bigger. Right now they make do with the personnel that's there. Vilma will do the best he can and be traded for draft picks either before, or when the season is over. If it took 3 years for the Patriots D to develop, why should the Jets be any different? But when you commit to a 3/4 without the necessary personnel, you have to tweak and Mangini is doing that. I complain about the defense too, but I don't give them an "F", I would give them a D-. This week, they raise the bar snd we'll go on from there.
4HCrew
I am sure Mangini's fingerprints are all over this defense so Sutton is not the only guy to blame. But if they get lit up this week by the baby Bills....ugh
Irish Jet
Why in the name of God do the jets always have to be a 'bend dont break' D. Couldnt we be one of those D's like Pittsburgh or Jacksonville that make teams work and fight fo every inch, that dont tackle the ball-carrier with a wrap up tackle but instead hit him as hard as they can, A defence that will push back and dominate the line of scrimmage. *Sighs*, I would Kill for a D like that. Instead, our D gets pushed around like schoolboy bitches, I HATE THAT!!!!
