Boxing: Taylor vs Pavlik

Undefeated middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (27-0-1, 17 KOs) from Little Rock squares off with Kelly Pavlik (31-0, 28 KOs) of Youngstown, Ohio in a scheduled 12-round championship contest. Taylor has successfully defended his middleweight crown against the likes of Bernard Hopkins, Winky Wright and, most recently, Cory Spinks since taking the title from Hopkins in 2005. He faces a tough test in fellow undefeated fighter Kelly Pavlik, one of the sport's true knockout artists, who has registered 28 KOs in 31 triumphs as a pro. Following a spectacular knockout victory over Edison Miranda in his HBO debut last May, Pavlik will be getting his first chance at a title.

Vinny's prediction: Taylor's days are numbered, Pavlik is a relentless cardio machine and can punch like George Foreman in his prime. Taylor gets tired late in fights and tries to take rounds off, however Pavlik wont let him. Pavlik tired out Edison Miranda in his last fight, which is an amazing accomplishment in itself since Miranda is also known as a cardio freak. Pavlik's punching power combined with his relentless in your face boxing will tire out Taylor in the later rounds resulting in a KO. Pavlik by KO in 9!

PS. Its Saturday night on HBO.

Is it HBO or HBO PPV? They have been selling the crap out of this fight, so I can't imagine that it's on regular HBO. I hope so, because I have been burned one too many times and am not paying for a fight ever again.

BTW: Pavlik by decision.

So it sounds like Taylor pretty much has this one in the bag. :P
