toon88
victor zambrano gave up 3 runs to the Yankees today just saying must have only pitched 1 inning? I will take it to my grave believing that Duquette was sure he was getting CARLOS not Victor!

toon88
every time I see Phillips on ESPN i think of that trade why? Rick Peterson and Jim Duquette are the ones that shipped him out of town for Carlos, uh sorry, I mean Victor Zambrano.
Maxman
This is a serious comment. I have seen Mets fans say it was worth it because that trade basically got Randolph and Omar in here. Do you still feel that way? I know Southernjet posted this before. The trade brought about change and that was a good thing. Was it?

I don't think you spend almost 2 full seasons in 1st place and than jump ship on your GM/Manager because the team collapsed. Now next season if (Omar) doesn't bolster the flaws many have pointed out here pitching wise than you can make a case. Kinda like the current Mangini/Tannebaum situation. A lot of us didn't think the Mets had the pitching to win this spring in the predictions thread only to be suprised early on by the starters. Like Omar we figured the offense could carry a "decent" staff. By end of year our fears pitching wise were realized although I still feel there were no deadline fixes to be otained other than David Wells and we all know how you guys feel about him. During a collapse of this porportion EVERYTHING gets magnified so you have fans and media overeacting to every negative play, non hustle etc. We've seen it b4 in the Bronx with Soiriabo and Arod just to name a few....superstars who the fans wanted run out of town for 25 to 40 bad AB's. Was it? yes it was worth it,,2 solid seasons,,fans were in playoff race till end,,they collapsed,, oh well,,sucks,, but yanks didnt throw model away cause they lost in wc playoffs last year,,upsets and bad things happen,,i would rather have this front office regime as opposed to phillips and kazmir
Jetsfan80
A change in GM/manager would have been made regardless of what Kazmir would have done; Dan Duquette would have screwed up in some other way beyond this horrible move. Kazmir led the AL in strikeouts this season. How we ever gave him up, we'll never know.

I hear so much sports talk stuff that leaves me scratching my head. Fire Willie? Cmon. They are headed in the right direction, the results for the 1st 2 years are very good. Tweak things and get younger. That is the key.
