BReal32
first off, i totally agree that this game sucked. but you guys are unreal. how long is mangini's leash? are you kidding me? you guys are crazy. this season is not over. it's football. you guys can write off this season the same way that Mets fans wrote off the possibility of the Phillies winning the NL East. but guess what, **** happens. the jets can definitely string some wins together. i know everyone wants to blame this on Chad, but this whole team right now needs to step up. sorry to say, but pennington is still the QB even though all of you armchair GM's out there have him traded, cut or benched. he needs to step up, if he doesn't he's out. but that won't happen unless the Jets are 1-5 or 1-6. this defense really needs to step up. one decent game doesn't let them off the hook just like one bad game from Chad doesn't put him on the bench. the oline needs to give chad a little more time and the RB's a little bigger lane to run. nugent can't, absolutely CAN NOT miss 37 yard field goals. he makes that and this post and these threads might not even be made. i'm putting much more of this loss on Nuge than anybody else. everyone is looking for reasons to blame Chad or Mangini. blame the whole team. Chad threw two picks with one putting the defense in the position to have to stop them. but they didn't. if chad didn't throw that pick, the bills don't score 7 there. but what about the argument that if the jets D holds the bills to a field goal, the jets win the game. why does no one think that way. it's so easy to blame one person. but each part of the team has the ability to put certain pressures on other parts of the team. in the game today that's what happened and neither side stepped up. CoachTsurfing
I think you are wrong about the board blaming chad on losing the games. A few hate his guts. Why I don't know. But, honestly we have stunk as a team. Including the coaching. I think Mangini is trying to force schemes that won't work. Mangini can't do too much with the offense because Chad is limited physically. I will tell you one thing. Chad is efficient.
Ghost
As a big Clemens supporter, I agree with you. I'm just tired of those little passes that only gets us 4 yards. When we go deep, we can be pretty good. Smith caught a 29 yarder, and Cotchery caught some too. I think it's time for Clemens, Pennington's time has to be over. I'm sorry. theinlawjosie
First off, thank you very much BReal, that was a refreshing post. I don't come to this forum often b/c of all the attention that is put on Pennington. I understand that he is the QB and will be scrutinized more so than any other position, but our lack of a solid defense is what I'm cussing at every Sunday. I could care less that Pennington throws for 300 yards in 4 yard chunks, if it gets us down the field (which it has done several times before) I am just fine with it. We can win games with Pennington playing like that as long as we have a solid D and a solid running game and we should have both with the talent we have. With that being said, I understand why some people want to see Kellen start. I am a pretty big Pennington fan b/c he played college ball about 20 minutes from where I live, but I can see his flaws, well his one flaw really. It makes me so mad when he floats some of those ducks out there, and in the back of my mind I am probably thinking the same thing as the Chad haters, although not as harsh I'm sure. I guess what I am really trying to say is that if the running game and the D don't step up, we should probably play Clemens b/c Chad really doesn't have the arm to carry this team, but if those two areas perform like they should with the talent we have.....Pennington could thrive. Just wondering, how did we get as far as we did in 2002? We didnt have a good defense then either? Or could be it be that now after to rotator cuff surgeries, Chad is nearing the end of his abilities? I like the guy too, but theirs only so much you can do beyond your physical tools. And considering that were still trying to get a 3-4 defense, were gonna have more games like this and Chad doesnt have the arm to carry this team as you said. We got as far as we did because untiul the Raiders game, they hadn't really found a way to defense Pennington. And ever since then, his arm strength's weakness has become the Jets' achilles. Why worry about play action when even if he passes, it's a dumpoff, a screen or a floater less than 6 yards upfield? Everyone cheats up. 2002 was a bizarre year; but for Edwards having no alternative, Pennington enevr ses the light of day and there's now way they get in the playoffs. Coupled with a FIns brainfart of epic proportions against the Pats.
BReal32
ok so nuge cannot tackle..nuge was conservative with play calling..nuge cannot extend the field..ok cool..that works you're making my point. nuge can't do all that, just like chad can't stop the opposing offense on the goal line and the defense can't stop chad from throwing picks and nugent from missing FG's. nugent make that kick, game's tied no matter what happens in the last 11 seconds. chad doesn't throw the 1st INT and the Bills don't score 7. the defense stops the bills or holds them to a FG after the INT and the Jets win. teams win and lose as a whole. one part slides, the other picks it up. simple as that. and right now, they aren't doing it. if it doesn't start soon, some people are going to pay and i'm not so sure that those people are all deserving of it.
