PaJetFan
In regard to Edward's Performance, Mangini said, "They obviously have a lot of confidence in him, and he rewarded their confidence." This statement demonstrates mangini's understanding of how important it is to trust your young, untested QB, and not restrict the playbook. For me, this recognition by Mangini is definite sign that he - however subtly it may seem - is recognizing that playing the young, strong armed, and more talented player, can pay huge rewards! Like WINS against division rivals!! Unless Pennington plays like a world beater in the next week, Clemens is going to have a real chance to be the man. I was just listening to ESPN radio this afternoon and even Steve Young felt that the Jets may need to play the youngster now and see what they have in order to havea chance to win. BRING ON KC! penningtonfan82
Ok, you guys want KC that's great, speak for yourself. There was no special message about anything, Chad doesn't have a leash right now, if he does, it's not as short as some of you armchair coaches think. They aren't gonna bench him on 2 bad passes. I'm positive that Chad is gonna work hard this week and come back strong. He always does. If we lose it's gonna be because of the giants pass rush, because we have a vulnerable OL, and the defense, although they played a tiny bit better, is not gonna stop the Manning to Burress, if they play like they did in the first 4 games. With that said, I think if they're more aggressive, and trust Chad a little bit more, because there were no long passes at all for anyone to even say that he can't do it. No one knows that, but the semi long passes were sharp, the Jets could win the game WITH CP as the QB.

I'm not blind, at ALL, I been watching this team my whole life, there is MORE problems then Chad! Taking Chad out of the game and getting Kellen in there isn't gonna solve the quest for a Superbowl, there are a lot more thing that have to be done! The play calling has to get MUCH better, the defense has to wake up and play, because they aren't that great and the OL is STILL more vulnerable then anyone! Chad has had a good season so far with the exception of 2 really bad int. yesterday. No one is going to BENCH someone on 2 bad passes, he would have to have done that 3 straight games before they go to extreme measures. Come on! Be real here. I want to see Chad Pennington do well lead us to the Playoffs, etc, etc. But right now, when the game is on the line, I now what is going to happen. I watch Chad clap his little hands, and get jittery. I watch him catch the snap and then lob the ball up in the air - for grabs. I was trying to explain to my girlfriend in the fourth quarter how Jets football works. It's like a shakespearean tragedy. There is drama and moments of glory, great speeches, flashes of brilliance, and oftentimes a pretty decent battle. But in the end the 'hero' usually ends up dead or maimed. So after Leon scored, and Revis broke up the 3rd and short pass (and I finally stopped squeeling ilke a child on christmas)...I took a deep breathe, calmed myself, and turned to my girl and said, "this is when our quarterback throws the football the other team." And it was on ANOTHER out pattern, quacking like a duck, right toward the first down marker, travelling about 6 miles per hour. I could have intercepted that from my lazy boy!!!! Chad, I wish I were wrong. I hope you can succeed. But I CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!!!!

JetCane
Taken with the comments that the Jets were surprised he threw so often, i think the meaning is that the Bills CS trusted him enough to throw the ball a lot, and he responded with a good effort. Pennington cannot hit a guy in stride on a 20+ yard post and b. Pennington checks down to his short sfety receiver every freaking play. As others have pointed out, you can watch almost any other NFL QB in any other game and see said QB make long passes Pennington can only dream of making. As to the OL, Schobel was pretty much contained albeit with 2 holding calls, 2 such penalties on D'Brick that probably saved Pennington's behind. PaJetFan
Men or women commenting on footbal? Women watching football? WHy does it matter? 'Sex' and 'Gender' issues do not interest me. I'm a completely unbiased Unic who was accidentally castrated as a child and have since assumed an asexual identity. In a unique form of experimentation, scientists performed a rare procedure intended to induce a psychiatric disorder known as 'noendzonization.' ...They tattooed chad penningtons face on the flat area vacated by my male genitalia. Subsequently in all clutch moments of high school, collegiate and profession athletics, I failed to score in any way at the end of competitive sports events. In other words, I **** the bed in crunch time and high pressure situations. I also grew a chinese egg noodle from my right shoulder where there is supposed to be an 'arm', as it is referred to by the human species. I'm coming! haha I am deprived from hanging with other JETS fans who have a brain AND a sense of humor. I'm cursed up here where I live - Reading, Pa - just outside of Philly. I have to deal with obnoxious Eagles fans...AND when the Eagles and Jets are on at the same time, they play INFO-MERCIALS in place of the CBS games...leaving me to listen to the games on the radio. Additionally I work constantly (resident physician at a local hospital) so I'm either on call or sleepwalking. When the JETS at least play well, I can smile while walking around like a Zombie. only perk...2 hours from the Meadowlands if I speed. It's worth it for the few games I do see. gangreenman
Or, you can read into it that Mangini doesn't have that same kind of confidence in his young QB or he would be playing...all I know, the Jets suck at the moment. We sucked in 02 for the first three or four games as well before Pennington came in.... Sometimes changes are good, especially when its too some young energy and leadership. Chad played like crap last week, if that Buffalo zone focused on the 10-20 yard range Pennington wouldn't have even gotten 150 yards and would've thrown at least as many picks but probably more or wouldve at least been responsible for more TO's. I think its time for a change...I was rooting for him, but Pennington obviously just isn't good enough to get it done for us. A change is in order.
