What happened to all the different offensive fronts?

NIGHT STALKER

Remember last season how the offense would show multiple formations before the snap...what happened with that? Remember how they would mix it up with Brad Smith? That's missing too...this team just seems so robotic this year...just going through the motions and not even trying to fool anyone...maybe it's just me grasping at straws.

I think they are still doing it but that the other teams arn't getting as confused by it after having 17 games of tape from last season to look at what they were doing with specific motions. No Brad Smith runs so far, thank god, because last year everytime he was in at QB they would not even try to throw it which became too predictable.

The Jets need to throw the ball down the field. That is the biggest offensive problem. Open up the passing lanes with at least a couple of deep passes. Even if they're incomplete they at least say "Hey, we're here and we're not stupid and we will go deep if you continue to play so close to the line."

At some point the trick plays run out & we have to play real football. Problem is our OL can't run-block to get a ground-game going & Pennington has to do an impression of a man quarterback throw. Brad Smith has to be more of a a real WR also. Then trick plays work better. But otherwise, as soon as people see Brad Smith trot out, smart teams will sniff out a trick play with him more easily.

The underuse of Chris Baker in this offense is just getting silly too. This guy should be one of the best TE's in the NFL and he NEVER gets the ball. If I was him i couldn't wait to get the hell out of here in free agency.

Clearly he felt differently than you. He signed a 4-year contract with the Jets AS a free agent just one year ago. But Chad will never use him right. And the OL's suckiness has kept him in to block too much.

I am sure they want to throw to him more. He is a good receiver. But the offensive line is worse than last year so he needs to block.

I'm sure he regrets it because his catches have gone down to next to nothing this year. There is no reason a guy like Baker can't have a 50 catch season ALL HE DOES is make plays when he gets the ball.

The hell he regrets it. He was a UFA and not one NFL team showed interest in signing him for more than a backup role (and pay). Except the Jets, who gave him an $8M contract.

He shoulda signed as a backup somwhere. He could probably beat out 50+% of the starting TE's in the NFL.
