gangreenman
A legend, a class act. Thanks for everything, Joe! I wanted to see the fans give him a standing O curtain call today even after we lost... My guess is we will be officially looking for a new manager by about noon tomorrow. There's a reason he turned down the Orioles job and stayed in the Yankees broadcast booth.

124
This will be a horrible move by The Boss, but thank you Joe for making my younger years so joyful and letting me expierence four world championships in a matter of five years. Simply awesome. You will be missed.

Thor99
I think that this knee jerk reaction would be the worst move that Stein could make. There is not another manager in baseball that could've done what Joe did this season. Not only getting the wildcard, but challenging for the division after that start is nothing short of miraculous. Most teams and managers would have given up. As a Sox fan, I'll be glad to see Joe go.

Arod said it would be great if Torre stayed and that it would be a factor in his own decision on whether to stay. Posada called him the best manager in baseball. Jeter stood up for him, too. I hope cooler heads prevail, but I'm not expecting it.

shawn306
Torre is not under contract for next season. If Girardi (and only Girardi) is offered the job then I would have no problem with it. Anyone else and I will be very annoyed. (Nothing new since I have basically been annoyed since the first of game 1) Torre brought stability to a franchise that hadn't seen stability since the early 60's. Sure Buck and Stick built the team but Joe got them over the top, kept them on top and played the game they way it should be played. He has been able to keep the team together when most managers would have given up or have been fired. Torre is a class act from top to bottom. He did a great job keeping alot of ego's in check and meshing those egos into 12 years of playoff baseball. Sometimes a team just flat out outplays you. The Indians did it this year, The Tigers last year. That's baseball. For all the money these guys make when you get right now to it is still 25 against 25 and the one that pitches the best and hits the best is going to win 99-100 times. Yankee fans should be very thankful and very grateful for the job Torre has done. In an era where multiple World Series winners are rare Torre got them 4 in 5 years. Something that hadn't been done since the 72-74 A's. Thanks Joe

Too many fairweather fans left the game early for that. ANother joke in itself. But thats what happens when you charge insane prices for tickets. THe Bon Jovi's show up. GimmeShelter
That's not fair. Bon Jovi didn't pay for those seats. I actually had won the rights to purchase 2 Field Level seats for game 2 of the ALCS(736.00 for the pair) through my job. Was a little shocked at the price but figured for a Boston-Yanks game would have been worth it.......Thanks Jeter.

Thai Jet
How can you make a thread like this after calling for his head in another thread you made? Good question. I've got another question for you. Can a MLB manager be a "nose picking, butt scratching moron" AND be a "class act" deserving of a "standing O" too? Just askin.......
