Also, it's 180$ to upgrade your 360 from 20GB to 120 GB, while the PS3 is 200$ to upgrade from 60 GB to 1TB 60GB. Which is the better deal? Damn you elite! EM31
Looks like a decent deal if you are a one PC/Laptop house and if you plan to watch most of those ripped movies or TV shows on that one PC. If you have more than one PC in your house or if you plan on running any kind of consumer device to play those movies or TV shows onto your HDTV then this class of device is probably not the correct choice. Actually this product is a bit of a "tweener" for most users. I am not sure that it is clearly a better deal than the vanilla 500GB external USB devices flooding the market right now at $100 or less. The cost per gig for those is probably cheaper and they at least are smaller so relocating them to another machine is easier. On the high end, the USB non-RAID technology is a poor fit if you are looking for backup or file sharing features for your home network. I strongly urge anyone thinking about this to consider a NAS device that you just plug into your network router or switch and it automatically becomes visible to all the other network aware devices. Play movies to your HDTV.... Run scheduled backups from ANY of your PC's and Laptops onto external stroage without having to move the external storge device each and every time. Finally, with some of the better Home network NAS devices you get hardware RIAD on board. Meaning that you just plug in generic SATA drives and the NAS device will give you protection agains a disk failure in any one of those drives. For those who can spring for the extra bucks, this device is the best of breed for the home market. http://www.netgear.com/landing/en-us/nasad (NETGEAR reacently bought out Infrant). I have several older extrewrnal USB drives that rarely even get plugged in any more but I use this thing for everything.
