Schlegel Starting Tomorrow?

There is no doubt that injuries to Cincy's LB corps have given Schlegel the opportunity to play. He got the start monday night and made six tackles and gave up no completions against the Pats (you historians might check those numbers against Vilma's numbers against the Pats. I think you'll find that they are identicle). According to Cincy web scorces he's been battling turf toe for the past few weeks which means he's making plays while injured. Sure glad the Jets cut him and kept Cody Spencer and Brad Kassell.

Did ever even see the field for us????

All the TC reports I heard said he was beyond woeful so I think we made the right desicion cutting him.

He will though probably have an all star game vs us next week, my guess is 3 sacks,2 picks and kick in the nuts for every Jets fan.

I know you aren't Questioning the decision's of THE GREAT MANGINI!!!??? Right?

Need I remind you that the guy is 11-11 as an NFL coach?

I think everyone needs to shut up and let the Master do what he does best!

BTW, you think we got a shot at Cowher next year, I hope!

No. Which is part of my complaint with the Jets decision to cut him and keep Spencer and Kassell. They drafted a guy in the 3rd never let him play a single D series and then cut him, giving the impression that he cant play. Then he's picked up by another team and low and behold he has the exact same game statistically as the our defensive leader (Vilma) against the exact same team (the Patriots), playing as a part of a two man LB corps on a defense that every analyst says is terrible but which managed, despite its injuries, to hold New England to fewer points and fewer total yds than the Jets did. And he did this while playing with turf toe.

I'm not saying he would be the Jets defensive savior, a Pro Bowler, or even a starter for the Jets. All I'm saying is that given the investment the Jets made in the guy, it might have been worth while to keep him around and give him a chance to play, even if it was in a back up roll. The Jets basically gave a draft pick (3rd, 6th, 7th, whatever value you want to put on Schlegel) to the Bengals for free and they seem pretty glad to have him.

Playing injured against one of the best teams in the league Schlegel had as good a performance as Vilma. Seems to me the Jets should have given that guy a chance at some playing time.

MyCousinVinny3c.JPGARE YOU ON DRUGS? Tell me, what week is it? Eric Mangini, regardless of this year SO FAR, has done more for the Jets franchise tha I remember other than Bill Parcells. You must be an idiot. Bill Cowher had losing seasons too! He held a job for more than a decade in Pittsburgh, and he won a SB. We are Jet fans, we are accustomed to losing, losing is accepted, because that is all they seem to do. When they do win, we have our little moment, and the dream ends with fumbles or missed FGs. But to want to fire Mangini? Come on. I don't like the 34, but firing Mangini, and putting in a new coaching staff would only turn everything over again, and Mangini would run off and become some great coach or something. Some of you people here just make me ashamed to be a Jets fan.

Cowher is going to the Giants or Panthers.
