Joe and Stott.. What a pair!

The question arose because assistant trainer Steve Donahue ran out to check on Pavano (along with Stottlemyre) in the fifth inning. After the game, Stottlemyre said Pavano had developed a blood blister under the nail on his right middle finger; Torre said Pavano had the blister drained before taking the mound that inning.

Pavano shook his head when asked about the finger, saying the trainer came out because "they thought I was moving gingerly." He then added, "I don't know what they're talking about."
