It's Dork-Fest 2007, and the battle between fictional wizards is about to commence. The combatants? Albus Dumbledore (from Harry Potter) and Gandalf (from Lord of the Rings). Who reigns victorious? To help you make a decision, here are the basics on each:

Dumbledore: The only one Voldemore ever feared.

Gandalf: Struck fear into a multitude of magical beasts.

EDGE: Push

D: Defeated Grindelwald, another dark wizard, in a duel

G: Lost to Saruman in a one-on-one duel

EDGE: Dumbledore

D: Protege was Harry Potter, a whiny little bitch who constantly required Dumbledore to hold his hand and get him out of jams up until the 7th book.

G: Protege was Frodo Baggins, a hobbit who only required one instruction: "Destroy the ring!"

EDGE: Gandalf

D: A gay character, according to the author, J.K. Rowling

G: Played by a gay character on the Silver Screen, Sir Ian McKellen

EDGE: Push

D: Planned his own death with his assassin, Severus Snape, beforehand

G: Killed after battling for 2 days and nights with a Balrog, taking the beast down with him, then coming back from the dead shortly thereafter.

EDGE: Gandalf

D: Used a wand

G: Used a staff

EDGE: Gandalf

D: Originally thought to represent Jesus until that rumor was denied by Rowling herself.

G: Definitely represented Jesus, as Lord of the Rings is a Chrstian Allegory.

EDGE: Gandalf

There you have it. While Dumbledore appears to keep it close at first, Gandalf is the clear favorite, and gets my vote. What say you?

stupid question.. they wouldnt fight each other.

good vs. good?

nope doesnt work that way.

they both have their strengths and weaknesses.

BUT

they wouldnt fight each other unless one of them went bad..

sheesh! and then the "good" one who was left would win..

Look, guys, there are only 2 options to the question. If others were allowed into the battle, then Chuck Norris would beat everyone.

it is a flawed battle.. good does not fight good.

better luck with your next thread! :P

No one said the fight was to the death, it could be just to see who was stronger. I'd say gandalf because I've never really seen anything impressive magic wise from the harry potter universe.

so "to reign victorious" means "stronger" didnt know that ;)

but you are still missing the point.. good would not battle with good...

note that i never said "to the death" either. ;)

i think they each have their strengths and together they would be a formidable team.

Good fights good all the time, where have you been since the 70's? Have you not read any comic book in the 80's or any Japanese manga? How about Heroes? In contemporary works of fantasy and science fiction it happens all the time. Batman fights superman... JLA have fought the X-men. The Chinese dude from the matrix fought neo. It happens a lot.

greengal, stop trying to define the parameters of the battle. They are the 2 most prominent, fictional, wizards in existence, and can do battle whenever they wish in my own imagination.

Pick one, or quit ruining the thread.

Some people regard the Force as magic, so where would Palpatine end up in this?
